Notice: Due to an estimated shortfall in revenue needed to cover operating costs, Little Mates Cove will not open in 2021. As the department evaluated all outdoor pool operations, factors including cost of maintenance, infrastructure condition, and number of staff needed to safely operate the facility, were all taken into consideration.
Unfortunately, Little Mates Cove has some structural issues and combined with the high number of staff needed to maintain and operate the facility, the facility was not funded for the 2021 swim season. This will allow time for staff to develop a budget and future plan on what it will take to open the pool in the future.
Bear Creek Outdoor Pool Open Tomorrow
Its been a long six year wait, but residents of Grande Prairie can finally take a swim in the Bear Creek Outdoor Pool tomorrow.
The City of Grande Prairie has confirmed that the pool will be open to the public on Saturday, beginning at noon.
The news of the opening was first announced on Councillor Chris Thiessens Facebook page Friday morning.
We are as happy as the rest of the community to see the Grande Prairie Outdoor Pool re-open this weekend, said Mayor Bill Given, in a release. Since 1964 it has been a place where summer memories have been made for many generations, and we are thrilled to now open up the newly renovated facility as we make the most of the end of summer, and continue to make it a landmark location for years to come.
The pool originally close in 2013 and has been met with many delays throughout its renovation and re-construction, leading to much dismay from City residents.
The City says some of the new renovations include a tots pool, zero beach, spanish step and lily islands, a games area and the waterslide.
The pool will be open until 9 p.m. seven days a week for the remainder of the summer season.
Hours are:
- 11 a.m. to 3 p.m & 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday
- 12 p.m. to 4 p.m & 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Eastlink Centre memberships and passes are not eligible for use at the outdoor pool.

Outdoor Pool Set To Re
The repairs may be of a temporary nature which is the bad news. But the good news is that with a forecasted high of 31C tomorrow the Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool is set to be re-opened tomorrow Friday just in time for the major weekend rush.
The Outdoor Pool has been closed over the past six days due to a water main break on Fairford Street preventing water to from reaching the Natatorium building and the Outdoor Pool according to Parks and Recreation Director Derek Blais.
After the temporary repairs were effected the pool needed to be re-filled, heated and chemical added to make the water safe for public swimming, Blais told Council at their Monday evening regular meeting.

Temporary repairs were done to allow the pool to re-open while waiting for parts to do the repair the City said in a news release.
If you want to have a drink at the Outdoor Pool once it does open the City would like to advise people that a boil order is in effect for the Natatorium building and users must avoid drinking water from the fountains, taps or showers. There is no boil water advisory for the Phyllis Dewar Outdoor Pool water.
Be prepared and bring your own water bottle.
In the meantime if you want to cool off this evening the Kinsmen Sportsplexs Indoor Pool is open as well as the Crescent Park Spray Park is open.

Tomorrow Is The First Full Weekend Of Summer And Its Certainly Going To Feel Like It Weather Wise
If you dont happen to own your own pool to cool down in, or you dont have time to fight the crowds at the beach, then no worries because some local pools have got your back!
The City of Sydney has a fair few aquatic centres around town and this weekend theyll open them up for FREE with plenty of Summer activities on for you to get amongst in an official open day of sorts.
All five pools will open on Saturday December 7 from 10am till 3pm, according to Concrete Playground, and their locations are as follows:
Andrew Charlton Pool near the harbours edge , Prince Alfred Park Pool in Redfern, Victoria Park Pool in Camperdown, Cook + Philip Park Pool near Hyde Park and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Ultimo.
There will be a range of activities going on including tours of the centres, fitness classes, aquatic inflatables, learn-to-swim info, BBQs, face painting and MORE!

When Will Kids’ Swimming Lessons Restart
Indoor activities for children, including club sessions for under 18s in aquatic sports and learn to swim lessons, have also been allowed to resume from April 12.
This will be a welcome change for many parents and children, after close to a year of restrictions disrupting daily life.
Swim England’s chief executive Jane Nickerson told Radio 4 in 2020: “One of our biggest, biggest fears is that there will be a lost generation of children this year who don’t learn to swim.”
A statement from Nickerson said she was “delighted” about the reopening of outdoor swimming pools and open water venues, she stressed the importance of tomorrow’s ease in restrictions.
Nickerson said: While outdoor pools opening again is cause for celebration, especially as the Easter holidays begin, we realise that many still wont have access to a swimming pool.
Thats why it is vital that indoor pools do reopen on 12 April so the vast majority of people can get back into the water.”
She acknowledged the wait for older swimmers wanting to train with organised groups was frustrating.

Sector 23 Swimming Pool Opens Tomorrow
Only professionals allowed, to undergo Covid test every week

The UT Sports Department has decided to open the Sector 23 all-weather swimming pool for professionals from December 28.
The pool is going to open only for professional and competitive swimmers. They have to undergo Covid-19 test every week and also before enrolling themselves. The swimmers will be asked to sign an undertaking to declare any kind of illness, said a senior official.
He said the pool would not open for general public/members or amateurs.
The department has already issued SOPs and admission forms have been made available. The swimmers will be called in small batches and will train under the supervision of coaches and staff members. For regular upkeep, the pool arena will be sanitised and usage of common bathing facility is also likely to be prohibited.
A circular in this regard has already been issued and we have started filling of admission forms. The pool has been repaired. The swimmers will be called in small batches at designated time slots. We are committed to the promotion of swimming, said another official.
In October, the MHA had approved opening of swimming pools for pro-swimmers and thereafter, the department was planning for the same. Only one swimming pool the all-weather pool in Sector 23 was expected to be open for trainees as it has the facility to maintain the water temperature.

Special Notes: Kiddie Pool
The Kiddie Pool is open to everyone, but it was designed for young children . All babies and toddlers who are not toilet-trained are required to wear plastic or rubberized nylon pants, even over a disposable swim diaper. Regular diapers are not permitted. Older children and teens are not allowed to use the fish slide.
In-water dives, somersaults, and roughhousing are not permitted. Please prevent children from running this is the major cause of injury in the kiddie pool area.
State health codes prohibit food and drinks around the perimeter of all pools.
Pools may be closed at any necessary time due to bad weather or water quality.
If the pools are closed for special events, those events will be posted at least 2 weeks in advance.
Special Notes: Lap Pool, Dive & Plunge Pool
The Lap Pool is heated to 82°F and remains open year-round. Please note that if the air temperature is below 55 degrees, the pool will have a delayed opening or remain closed for the day, depending on the weather. Pools may also be closed at any necessary time due to bad weather or water quality.

Late Summer Pool Hours
Pool hours and availability will be based on the public health situation at the time. Pools must have adequate staffing of fully-trained lifeguards to operate. Apply online to be a lifeguard.
Youngs Pool
Youngs Pool will close for the season on Aug. 1 to prepare for renovations to the pool house, locker rooms and concession building.
Stonegate Pool
Stonegate Pool will remain open, noon-7 p.m. daily through Aug. 15.
Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center
Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will remain open, noon-7 p.m. daily through Aug. 15. Beginning Aug. 16, Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Center will operate late summer pool hours from 4-7 p.m. weekdays and noon-7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tomahawk Ridge Aquatic Centers final day of operation for the season will be Labor Day, Sept. 6, when it will be open noon-7 p.m.
Concession stands will not be open this year. Guests may bring snacks and drinks. Alcohol and glass are not allowed.
Pool Activities And Groups
Early Bird Lap Swimming will return in 2022 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6AM-9AM. It will be a separate pass for adults with costs ranging from for a single day pass, half season passes , and full season passes . The season will begin on May 31st and conclude on September 1st.

Outdoor Pools Are Reopening Today In Toronto

Toronto’s outdoor pools will be officially be reopening today and tomorrow.
Fifteen Toronto outdoor pools are now back open to the public, with the rest set to follow on Saturday, city staff have announced.
Pools along with water amenities like splash pads and wading pools are part of Stage 2 of Ontarios reopening plan, which Toronto officially reached on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, the city asked water facilities to start preparing for reopening so that the facilities could be used as soon as possible once the province gave the green light.
The pools that are now open are:
Outdoor pools will be open 11 am to 8 pm daily, with 11 am to noon reserved for lane swimming and the remainder for leisure swimming.
Splash pads began opening earlier this week, with all city splash pads set to be officially open by tomorrow. Meanwhile, wading pools will July 1, with other locations opening over an 11-day period.
New distancing measures will be in effect: Visitors will be asked to sign in with their first name and an email or phone number to facilitate the public health departments contact tracing efforts.
