Murray Outdoor Aquatic Center

Grand Opening Spence Eccles Olympic Freestyle Pool at the Utah Olympic Park

Murray City Parks and Recreation manages three swimming pools.

The Murray Aquatic Center is one of the most beautiful outdoor pools in the state of Utah. Nestled inside Murray Park, this amazing outdoor pool features a giant 4-story water slide, 2 1 meter diving boards, zero depth entry beach area, water toy features, and plenty of deck and grass space. The perfect place to spend your time with your family swimming, relaxing or soaking up the sun rays. Dont forget to wear sunblock.

* see hours of operation for specific opening and closing dates

The Murray Aquatic Center may close or have amended hours due to any of the following weather conditions;

If the air temperature forecast is less than a high of 70 degrees, we will not open. If the forecast is above 70 but current air temps are below 65 it will be the Aquatic Managers responsibility to use discretion to determine if the pool will open or if we will have a delayed opening.

If there is threatening weather, high winds, heavy rain or thunderstorms the pools will close or possibly not open for the day. Lightning poses a serious risk of injury at the pool. In the case of Lightening, the pool will be evacuated, and people will be directed to safe shelter nearby. Pool activities will remain suspended until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard. If it is not feasible to reopen after 45 minutes, the pool will close, and an attempt will be made to reopen the pool later in the day.

Know Before You Go

  • If you are sick or have any COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home.
  • Bring your own pool chairs if you have them; our facility gets quite busy and we often do not have enough to go around.;
  • We do not rent towels. Please bring your own, or we do have some for sale!;
  • Our program schedules change seasonally. Please join our mailing list or check often for changes.;
  • Children under the age of 6 are required to have parent or guardian in the water with them. Please plan on swimming with your little ones!

How To Disassemble A Soft

Each soft-sided pool is going to have a separate set of instructions to follow when it comes to its disassembly. It is imperative that you follow these instructions to ensure that no damage is done to your pool due to a haphazard takedown.;

With that being said, there is no one way to disassemble a soft-sided pool. However, most companies advise that the pool be taken down in a way that the set-up is reversed. Then, once your soft-sided pool has been disassembled, it needs to be properly dried and stored.;

Be sure that the liner is fully dried and all parts are equally as dried before putting them away for the season. Try to store them neatly in a container that can be sealed, or put them in an area that will not be exposed to changing weather conditions. Your pool should also be placed in an area that is cool and dry.;

Every State Has Its Own Rules That Vary Dramatically

Utah Indoor Pool

Each state has different quarantine orders that vary dramatically from state to state. Within states, orders can even vary from county to county or town to town. When traveling to Utahs national parks, consider the surrounding states you will travel through. For instance, up until June 1, Montana requires travelers to self-quarantine for 14 days when they enter the state. Arizona has a similar traveler quarantine order. If your vacation is only 10 days, you may want to plan your route according to which states will make it easiest for you to travel through to get to your destination.

Many hotels keep a pool open all year although you might not get pool weather – in my opinion you should plan April to October for decent use of the pool

Most hotels keep 1 pool open year around but the weather might be to cool.

Pools usually start opening Mid March, but I would wait till mid April if your going for the pools. If there are any repairs to be done, I understand they do it in February. We stayed at Mirage last March, they were doing repairs up till we got there, boy was the water cold.

They generally try to get the main pools open by the first week of the NCAA basketball tournament, but the weather may not comply.

Like others have said, bigger places will usually have one pool open year round, weather permitting.

I’ve been seeing a lot of March 1st dates. I wouldn’t count on the weather to cooperate at that time though.

Be Mindful That Youre A Visitor In Someones Hometown

While you may feel footloose and fancy free after being cooped up for two months, dont throw caution to the wind. Yes, wearing masks is awkward. No, you cannot throw yours out. People live in the towns youre traveling through and they want to feel safe as they open up their economies. Many have tiny medical centers and are miles from the nearest full-service hospital. If a store posts a sign asking all customers to wear face masks, put on your face mask. Be the traveler youd want to see visiting your town.

Utah Hotel Onwers Hope Pool Access Will Encourage Guests

Inground Pool Pricing Comparisons – Salt Lake City

Kerry Bringhurst

Hotels and motels in northern Utah began expanding services last week and for the first time since the middle of March, guests are being allowed access to swimming pools.

The hotels are pretty excited about that, she said. There have been quite a few families who have wanted to come to the hotels, but they would like a swimming pool available for their kids.

Hotel owners are required to limit the number of people in the pool area and most are scheduling swim times to give staff the opportunity to sanitize between each use.

It will be a different experience than what people are used to when they head for the hotel swimming pool, Hollist-Terrell said. You have to sign in at the front desk for what time you want to go to the swimming pool and then you will have an hour to be in there with your group. There can be no congregating on the deck of the pool, those types of things that are kind of like social distancing already but inside the swimming pool area.

Another change, according to Hollist-Terrell, is that guests can order a hot meal at hotels that serve breakfast, instead of being offered the cold sack breakfast that has been served the past few weeks.

So instead of having a buffet option, where you could go through and get whatever you want and make your own waffles, it will be limited to what you order from a menu, she said. It’s just a different way of doing things.

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, May 24, 2021 ;Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation will kick off its outdoor pool season beginning May 29.

Of the countys nine outdoor pools, eight will welcome families back for Memorial Day weekend per tradition, according to a news release from Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation. The ninth pool, Redwood Pool in West Valley, will open later in the season once necessary maintenance is completed. The splash pad at Wardle Fields Regional Park in Bluffdale also opens this weekend.

We are excited to kick off summer by opening up these pools and providing space for everyone to stay cool and have fun, said Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation Director Martin Jensen. This time it feels particularly special because it is our 75th year of operation and its a chance to celebrate community gathering places and spaces that continue to play a critical role in everyones health and well-being.

A highlight for this years season is a refurbished Draper Outdoor Pool attached to the countys new Draper Recreation Center. Opened in summer 2020, this facilitys aquatics offerings include an eight-lane indoor lap pool and a leisure pool with a kids play feature and a large water slide.

The outdoor pool openings coincide with Healthy and Safe Swimming Week, the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions awareness campaign intended to reduce disease outbreaks, drowning, and pool chemical injuries.

Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

What are people saying about swimming pools in Salt Lake City, UT?

This is a review for swimming pools in Salt Lake City, UT:

“The things they have here are cool. Platforms, diving boards, slides, kids area, and some swim lanes. However this place is run by morons. They don’t have anywhere for people to sit in chairs/layout. But the lamest thing is their hours. We just got here at 4:40 when they normally close at 8 they change their time to 5. So wack. So inconsistent. And they close at 4 on sundays. Dumb. They need to fix this or else someone else is gonna come with diving boards and put them out of business.”

When Do Pools Open

Vegas Pool Opening Day… same every year.

Ok smartie, when is that?

Doesn’t exist, I’m just full of Christmas japes! They open the very millisecond the weather is appropriate and this may be completely different for each hotel.

A lot of hotels have one pool open all year round for swimming addicts who simply have to get their fix irrespective of how cold it is.

Generally speaking pool areas open fully in the first half of April but if you want 100% guaranteed pool weather it’s best to wait until a month or so after that and take a trip in mid May or later. Having said that, March in Vegas may feel positively tropical if you’ve been through a Michigan winter!

Edited: 9 years ago

Well, that’s a bummer. Someone I know mentioned March a while back and I’ve already booked my wedding and everything. We’re staying at the Rio so I was looking forward to the amazing pool. Bummer. 🙁

Stay positive about the weather, you just don’t know. And if Rio don’t have a year round pool and swimming is important to you, move hotels.

When in March? Pretty much every pool will be open by the end of March. Most of those not open year-round will open sometime in March. Of course, it can be too cold to spend much time at the pool, but they’ll open.

    How To Winterize A Metal Frame Above Ground Pool

    Although you may not have to take your metal frame down for the winter, you do need to winterize it to give it the boost it needs to endure those cold winter months. If you want to skip the hard stuff and give yourself a bit of a leg up, go ahead and opt for the use of a winter closing kit. To show you the lay of the land though, lets briefly go through the different steps it takes to get your metal frame pool ready for winter.;

  • Adjust the alkaline and pH levels. You want to first adjust the alkaline in the pool, with the ideal range being 100 to 150 ppm. You then want to adjust the pH level and get it in the range of 7.4 to 7.6. For each of these variables, the higher the level, the better it is for when you are winterizing.;
  • Adjust the calcium hardness level. After this, get your calcium hardness levels between a range of 175 to 225 ppm.;
  • Shock your pool and add winter algaecide. When these levels have been solidified, it is now time to shock your pool. Along with that, you will need to add some winter algaecide to prevent the growth of harmful algae even in the cold winter months.;
  • Disconnect and store the pool lines. After you have your water good to go, move on to your pool lines. Disconnect them, allow them to dry completely, then store them in a dark, dry area.;
  • Lower the water . Once this is down, lower your water level a bit, cover the pool, and voila! Your pool is now winterized!
