Fun Things To Do In San Diego
San Diego, made most famous by Will Ferrells Anchorman character Ron Burgundy, is the 2nd most populated city in California. Though it has a total of 1.4 million residents, San Diego still pales in comparison to the amount of people that live in Los Angeles. With the amount of people that live in L.A., you can imagine the traffic and the smog up there. San Diego luckily doesnt have that issue. The palm trees are a plenty and the views are breath-taking. San Diego happens to be home to some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in America such as Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Mission Bay, Point Loma, Carlsbad, Costa Mesa and La Jolla.
Ripe with green lawns, stucco buildings and blue skies, San Diego has the laid-back California mindset without the hectic Los Angeles hustle and bustleor the smog. Some of the most fun attractions in all of southern California can be found in the greater San Diego area.
One example is the USS Midway Museum. This Museum is San Diegos newest visitor attraction. This real naval aircraft carrier offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for people of all ages. Guests typically enjoy a self-explanatory audio tour featuring 60 exhibits highlighting this city at sea and 25 renovated real aircrafts. Explore galleys and sleeping quarters of a 69,000 ton ship, fittingly located in the United States most famous naval town, San Diego.
Fish Mexico On A Sportfishing Charter
Grab your passport and head out to sea on a sportfishing charter to the Coronado Islands in Mexican waters. This fishing area is approximately 20 miles south of Mission Bay and offers anglers some of San Diegos best fishing opportunities.
Spring and summer bring yellowtail, barracuda, bonito, bass, and Bluefin tuna. The nine-hour fishing trip, hosted by Impulse Sportfishing in Mission Bay, includes lunch. Coronado Islands can be paired with offshore fishing or Baja coastal fishing on longer trips.
Cruise The Bay On A Sternwheeler
A fun way to experience Mission Bay is aboard the Bahia Belle. Its a Mississippi-style, turn-of-the-century sternwheeler docked at Bahia Resort Hotel.
The sternwheeler is three stories tall with an observation deck offering epic views of the bay. It cruises Mission Bay between Bahia Resort and Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa in Sail Bay.
You can choose Champagne brunch, lunch, dinner, sunset family cruises, or after dark adults-only cruises. Bahia Belle cruises are complimentary for Bahia and Catamaran resort guests .

Experience The Socal Lifestyle At Bonita Cove Park
Bonita Cove is across the street from Belmont Park on the bay side of Mission Beach Peninsula. This Mission Bay park is idyllic with its expansive grass areas, swaying palm trees, and flat sandy beach that wraps around the cove.
The calm waters make this a favorite swim spot for families with small children. Youll find a paved bike path, picnic tables, barbecues, a childrens play area, volleyball courts, and fire pits everything you need for a leisurely SoCal day.
Make A Splash At Seaworld San Diego
SeaWorld is one of San Diegos most popular attractions, and its located on the shores of Mission Bay.
Known for its entertaining marine animal shows, the park also features sea life exhibits, interactive and educational programs, thrill rides, amusement rides, and plenty of opportunities to get wet.
You could potentially visit the park in a half-day, but its best to plan for the whole day if you want to see multiple shows and attractions.
I have lots of advice for buying discounted tickets to SeaWorld San Diego.

About Hot Tub Cruisin
When Taylor, Zac and Chase Rhodes’ used to joke with their parents about putting a hot tub on the boat they sailed through cold Washington State lakes, they surely never expected to try out the idea. But try it they did, and today Hot Tub Cruisin maintains the only San Diego boat rental equipped with an onboard hot tub. The uniqueness of this boat has gotten the Rhodes brothers attention from local media outlets and earned them a feature on CNN Money, which aptly proclaimed, “This is not your father’s pontoon boat.”
The boat fits up to 10 people and their gear, and the tub itself is roomy enough for eight adults or an infinite number of imaginary friends. Renters can prep lunch using the on-board grill and keep their drinks on ice in the boat’s coolers, including a small one in the hot tub itself. They can also control the hot tub’s temperature, turning it up to 104 degrees or keeping it cool on a hot sunny day. And Bluetooth-enabled stereo system allows passengers to play DJ for the duration of their trip.

Meet Taylor Rhodes Of Hot Tub Cruisin
Today wed like to introduce you to Taylor Rhodes.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Taylor. So, lets start at the beginning and we can move on from there. My brothers and I were raised in Spokane, WA, where we grew up sailing, water skiing and wakeboarding on the colder lakes of the Pacific Northwest. During that time we always joked around about putting a hot tub in our boat.
After college and moving to San Diego, my now wife, brothers and I set out to do just that. We found a terrific location, at Mission Bay Sportcenter boat rentals, to operate our business out of. After our Hot Tub Cruisin boat design was approved by the US Coast Guard, we began construction of our custom Hot Tub Cruisin boat from scratch. We started the build at our Uncles property, then finished up at the Mission Bay Sportcenters on sight boatyard.
After about a year of business startup processes, city/county permitting, and boat construction, we began operations on Memorial Day Weekend 2014. About to head into our fifth year of successful Hot Tub Cruisin boat rentals now, we have two locations with two boats and are looking at expanding our operations to new markets, as well as begin building and selling our custom Hot Tub Cruisin boats for others personal, commercial, and franchise partnership uses.
The boats seat up to 10 guests. The hot tub water is adjustable depending on weather/air temperature and the renters personal preference.
Explore A Wildlife Preserve
Kendall-Frost Reserve is a 16-acre salt marsh in Fiesta Bay. Its situated next to the citys Northern Wildlife Preserve with its mudflats, salt marsh, and open waters. Both can be easily accessed from Crown Point Park.
Two birds on the endangered species list Beldings savannah sparrow and the light-footed clapper rail rely entirely on the marsh. Look for the light-footed clapper rail in cordgrass stands and the Beldings savannah sparrow in the dense pickleweed. Bring binoculars on self-guided tours.

Fiesta Island is a multipurpose, dune-covered island in Mission Bay. Its a favorite for launching small watercraft, letting the dog romp off-leash, and attending various events and tournaments.
Probably the most notable event that takes place here is the World Championship Over-the-Line Tournament hosted each July by Old Mission Beach Athletic Club. If youve never experienced an OTL tourney, this SoCal tradition and San Diego original is a must-do this summer.
