What Chemicals Do I Need For My Hot Tub
When we are talking about Hot Tub chemicals, we are really talking about 6 things

Let The Jets Run On High
After adding the jet cleaner to the water, let the jets run on a high setting for about 15 to 20 minutes. Turning on the jets on high will ensure the water is well circulated through every jet in the hot tub. As the water circulates and flows through each jet, the active chemicals in the jet cleaner will break down and dissolve every grime and mineral deposit inside the jets.
The chemicals are usually potent enough to dissolve oils, slime, dirt, and grime that might have accumulated inside the hot tubs jets. As the chemical breaks down the grime in the jets, the dissolved particles are flushed out as the water circulates.
These particles will also be picked up by the filtration system of your hot tub. After turning on the jets on high, switch it to a low setting and let the jets run too. Alternate between the low and high setting for about an hour. Then turn off the jets.

Enjoy A Massaging Jacuzzi Bath Mat
For me, the jacuzzi bath mat offers more promise than the jet spa. Between the two, Im opting for the jacuzzi bath mat for sure.
This long mat adheres to the bottom of the bathtub with dozens of suction cups. Its connected to an air hose and motorized air pump, and some brands come with a built-in heater. These range in price from about $90 to $190.
The most expensive versions come with a remote that you can use to set the length of your massage.
Whether you love or hate this product will likely come down to whether the suction cups adhere to your particular tub. If youve got a textured bathtub, youre more likely to have problems with the suction cups. If you have a good stick, youll probably love the bubble massaging mat. If the surface of your tub is smooth and you wet the bottom of the bathtub a little bit before you press down on the suction cups, youre going to be fine.
Youll get a much stronger massage with bubbles than from the electric bubble bath mat than from the portable jet stream, and also, a lot more of your body will be targeted. However, because of the more powerful jet stream, it will be considerably louder than a portable jet spa.
Im thinking the electric bath mat could make a fun holiday gift for my teenage niece, because who doesnt deserve a little extra fun and relaxation these days?!

Use Baking Soda And Bleach On Your Hot Tub
Many issues with dirty hot tubs boil down to contaminants. Because hot tub water remains at temperatures that are conducive to bacteria and mold growth, you can occasionally encounter mold or other biohazards that are difficult to clean.
Using our bleach recipe is a fantastic method of hitting any organic contamination, and the baking soda in the recipe gives our sanitizer extra scouring power. The alternative is a Concrete Block or Cinder Block pool, like the one that I have made. It will take you a little longer to build. It will cost a little more to make. It will also cost a little more to run. But, what you end up with a a PERFECT Hot Tub that rivals and arguably trumps the plastic shell type, or indeed the inflatable Hot Tubs that are available on the market.

How To Troubleshoot Hot Tub Jets
If you begin to notice the hot tub jets just arent working the way they should, theyre not too difficult to troubleshoot, and possibly even fix yourself.
Important: Before you begin any type of hot tub repair, turn the unit off, and turn the breaker off to ensure no electricity is running to the hot tub.
Diy Portable Hot Tub Plans
Portable hot tubs are inflatable. They can be made up of PVC or vinyl with synthetic leather exterior. They can be carried easily from place to place and from the outdoor to indoors.
It is made up of a combined pump and heater unit but it takes a long time to heat the water.
Tip: Before buying a portable hot tub, make sure it will fit in your car roof rack. Last month, when I try to keep mine on the roof rack, it did not fit. Later, I solved the issue by making a temporary homemade roof rack for the outdoor campaign.

Build A Hot Tub Filling And Testing
This for me was probably the most nerve racking and exciting time of the build. Was it going to stay together. Was it going to leak like mad. Was it going to fall apart as soon as a bit of water was in there. Was the filer and pump actually going to work and produce enough bubbles so it at least looked like a Hot Tub. Was it going to heat up to temperature?
Filling the Hot Tub
I had so many questions going on in my head it was untrue. Nevertheless, it was a super exciting moment to turn on the hose pipe and let it start to fill.
I had calculated that the filling process was going to take best part of 3 hours given that the average hosepipe under normal pressure allows 1000 litres of water an hour to flow. The first part went well and filled up the footwell quite quickly, the water didnt seem to be escaping so all was good.
I had to wait about another 90 minutes for the water to come up over the seats and again, so far so good. The big test was when the water hit the jets and started to fill the piping, was it going to leak? It didnt.
The next big test was when the water reached the skimmer, it would flow down, through the piping into the pump and the would be ready to be tested. Earlier in the article I explained my woes of power outages so I will not recount the story again here. That said, to test the system, I started the pump on low speed and let it rang for a good 5 minutes.
Quick And Easy Hot Tub Plan
If youre extremely resourceful, you could make this tub for around just $75.
Youll need some stainless steel tubes, a power drill, big storage tank, foam mattress, paint stripper, scrap iron and metal, and an old LPG gas bottle. If you mark off where the lip of the cage is, you can use it as a top once you cut it off.
You can use pretty much anything to insulate the tub, just make sure that youre getting into every little nook and cranny with the foam.
Then bend the heating coil, cut a keyhole in the tank to connect it with the heat exchange coils. Set a fire in the heater and youre ready for a dip.

Mobile Jets Become Fixed
If your hot tub jets are supposed to move, but you can no longer adjust them, you may have a hard water problem. The increased calcium content in the water can create hot tub scale, which can build up, harden, and essentially lock up the jets.
The first thing to do is test the hot tub water to determine whether calcium hardness is actually the problem. If it is, you can try using a descaler. If that doesnt work, you may need to drain and clean the hot tub, giving the jets a good scrubbing with a brush to remove the scale.
If your water source has a high level of calcium and magnesium, use a hose filter when you refill the tub to reduce the probability of this happening again.
Gunite Jet Bodies And Jets For Your Diy Hot Tub
This was one of the more difficult things for me to get my head around when I was planning my build. I had never seen any of these components so I was searching for diagrams and videos on YouTube. None of them really enabled me to understand exactly how they worked and I was taking a bit of a chance when I ordered them as they are not cheap.
I knew that I needed this style of jet as they needed to go through my breeze blocks and conceptually, this was similar to the gunite systems that they are designed to be used in. Lets start with what these components are not. You will not find these on your plastic shell hot tubs. They are not suitable for this at all. Everything is different. These components are really designed for fancy sprayed in concrete construction method that I touched on earlier shotcrete or gunite essentially concrete sprayed into a metal construction under high pressure and then skimmed smooth. Very technical and difficult to do not even for the competent DIYer. So these components are essentially designed to be set into concrete. Ok, were now onto something here. With our breeze block construction, we can make use of these components. Before we talk about how to fit them, lets take a step back and explain how they actually work as this was the bit I struggled to understand.

Beautiful Pallet Hot Tub Plans

Inlet / Inward Plumbing
This part of the plumbing is where the water is sucked into the pump. The way in which the Hot Tub pumps work is that they draw water in from one side of the wet end and then push the water out of the other. On the inward draw side of things we have the Skimmer which is going to be connected directly to two bottom drains In our case, we are going to put these two drains onto the walls of the Stock Tank.
The reason that you have two drains is to make sure that the pump always has a flow of water even if one is blocked. This could damage the pump in the event this happened.
Then, we need to pass the water to the other side of the pump and the Outward Plumbing starts at the pump.

Obviously The Ideal Hot Tub
When your electricity goes out and your fancy manufactured hot tub becomes useless, just place a steel drum over your fire pit, put a match to it and watch nature run its course. Unlike most homemade tubs, this one is even name brand although its doubtful that the bathing experience is anything close to ideal.
