This Super Gutter & Pool Enclosure Issue

Rescreen Pool Enclosure with Mr. Screen Repair®

Putting in a 7 super gutter or switching to a different host connection is what needs to be done. Due to the way this enclosure is connected with a kneewall, it would take so much time dismantling, cutting, and re-assembling, that replacement is the lowest cost option. On some enclosures a larger gutter could be done but they are still rather pricey usually starting at $2000 on a simple, small enclosure.

If youre considering a new enclosure ask for a 7 super gutter it will be a few hundred dollars more than standard but it eliminates potential future issues if you get a new roof or the pitch of your roof and angle of your fascia makes it remotely likely that water will not make it in.

Repair Holes In A Pool Screen

A pool screen enclosure can offer you a nice divider from your little piece of paradise and the swarming insects that love to rain on your parade. Until a hole is formed and they weasel their way in, that is. Thinking about calling the repair man to take care of the job? Think again. Repairing holes in your pool screen is a task you can tackle yourself.

Step 1: Safety First

You will most likely be using a ladder to access the damaged portion of the screen that is above your head. Safety should be your first priority.

Never work directly above the pool with the pool cover on. If you fall into a pool with its cover on it will likely lead to a tragedy.

Be sure the ladder is secure before climbing. It is best to have a partner hold the bottom of the ladder. Having another person around will also be extremely helpful in case of an accident.

Step 2: Assess Damage

If you have actual holes in your screen, then you will be able to repair them. However, if the corners have been peeled up at the joints, you will need to replace at least a portion of the screen rather than merely repair it. A step by step guide can be found under Replacing a Pool Screen here at DoItYourself.com

Measure the size of the holes and cut the appropriate sized patches out of the mesh screen that you have purchased. To get an exact match, trace the hole on the existing screen and cut out an exact replica from the new material.

Step 4: Adhere the Patch

Step 5: Trim It Up

Step 6: Repeat Step for More Holes

Pool Screen That Has Pulled Out

Contact Us

Sometimes pool screen mesh looks like it has pulled out of the groove on the aluminum member. Commonly well get requests to simply put the screen back in place. In these cases, things are not as they seem. While it does look like the screen is pulled out, what has actually happened is that the screen has torn away from the aluminum member and the screen is now a full millimeter to short. These panels of screen will need to be replaced.

What causes these tears? These tears are common signs that your screen has reached its life expectancy. They are caused by wind or flex of the aluminum beams. When the screen is in a good condition, it is strong enough to resist tears from the wind or flex of the aluminum beams. However as it ages, the screen it gets substantially weaker and is torn by these forces rather easily. If youre getting these types of tears, rather than a pool screen repair, it is probably more economical to do a full re-screen. Important to note, is that polyester screens are warrantied against these types of tears for 10 years.

Pool Enclosure Repair Vs Pool Screen Replacement

Although pool enclosures are sturdy and built to last, strong storms and other unfortunate events can sometimes cause pool enclosure damage to the point of needing repair. However, in some cases, you might think you need a pool enclosure repair company however, a full pool enclosure replacement may be needed. Takie a look at the common causes for both pool enclosure repair and replacement that will help you understand what your enclosure needs.

1. Damage to the Screens and FramingThroughout the year, the screens in your pool enclosure endure windy days, hot sun and water. Not to mention kids, pets, patio furniture and everyday wear and tear. With time and extended exposure to these elements, your pool screen enclosure and framing can both weaken and sag. If only one screen is affected by these issues, your pool enclosure will probably only require minor repairs. However, if you notice a pattern of damage to multiple panels, it might make more financial sense to choose a full pool enclosure replacement.

2. Cosmetic Pool Enclosure IssuesThanks to Floridas humid weather and your screens close proximity to your pool, your screen enclosure is prone to developing mold and mildew. When promptly addressed with a thorough cleaning, your pool enclosure is unlikely to suffer too much harm from these substances. If you dont regularly take care of spots of mold and mildew, you may only need to have sections of your enclosure repaired.

We Can Do The High Panels

Pool screen repair on 1 story screen enclosures around 12 foot high are a piece of cake for us. Getting to the panels on 2 story pool cages 20 feet or higher in the air can be a challenge. Many screen enclosure companies, simply cannot do them because they dont have tall enough ladders, dont carry insurance for that working that high, they are too difficult, or too much hassle. Weve got ladders to reach to the moon , and the insurance to cover it. We can do the high panels. Considering the ladders, equipment, increased insurance costs, and increased set up time to work that high, a minimum service charge may be applied for these panels.

It would be too easy if the screen frames were removable, but, based on your question, I gather that they are not. To get them replaced over the pool, youll have to get a plank long enough to span the pool so that you can get to them, or if its cheaper, hire somebody who has the equipment.

We just had a new cage installed at our house, although we dont have a pool but do have a spa that we want to protect from small children, bugs and debris. The workers used step ladders and a platform scaffold and stated in the center from the inside of the cage and worked their way out to both ends and they finished while working from ladders on the ground. I would not attempt this job myself even though I consider myself a handiman, it takes some skill and experience to get the screen nice and tight without any wrinkles in it.
