Test for pH and Free Available Chlorine often, as they tend to fluctuate more quickly than other chemicals. Add pH Increaser or pH Decreaser to keep pH levels between 7.4 – 7.6. Keep Free Available Chlorine levels between 2.0-4.0 ppm, and shock the pool if you need to bring the levels up, or if this number differs from Total Available Chlorine levels. Total Alkalinity should stay between 80-120 ppm to help buffer pH levels.

Use Ph Adjusters For Your Swimming Pool
Adjusting your pH is relatively straightforward.
While following normal pool maintenance routines, it should be taken care of. If not, then use one of the following.
Alkaline Tablets:Suppose the pH level has risen to high. If that is the case, then at an alkaline tablet. Afterward, it should lower quite a bit.
Pool Shock:On the other hand, if things have become too basic, then you should talk about the water. That way, its pH will rise.
Add Algaecide And Clarifier
A good quality algaecide, such as Leslie’s Algae Control or Copper Algaecide, works with your chlorine to prevent and eliminate algae before it blooms out of control. Make sure to brush the whole surface of the pools walls and floor. Even a small missed spot can harbor algae, which will quickly regrow if not knocked loose. Brush first, before vacuuming. Brushing loosens up all of the algae or dirt that is stuck to the walls and floor of your pool so that the vacuum can suck them up and remove them from the water.

Opening Up Your Above Ground Pool
Use a skimmer basket to remove leaves, insects, and other debris from the surface. If you havent cleared your pump basket, located at the base of your pump housing, since last season, do so now. This basket gets filled with debris often and should be checked on at least once a week when the pump is running.
Grab the pump and reconnect all of the hoses and cords. Once youve turned the pump on, youll be able to check for any sign of leakage indicating that some parts may need replacement.
Sometimes, pumps need to be primed before theyll function properly. If youre having trouble with your pump, check the owners manual and find out what you can do to get it back in tiptop shape!
If you have an above ground pool, you likely have an automatic pool cleaner in addition to your pump basket. Make sure this is also clean and hook it back up so it can start filtering out the debris that falls into your water.
