Is The Lionville Community Ymca’s Outdoor Pool Opening

Downtown YMCA pool will close down

Unfortunately, we are unable to open the Lionville Community YMCAs outdoor pool this summer because there is not enough space by the pool to adequately allow for social distancing. While we wish the circumstances were different, we will not take chances with your health and safety. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. Active YGBW members are able to purchase an outdoor pool membership at any of our YGBW branches.

Tomlinson South Meridian Ymca

The Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA opened its doors May 25, 2018, on a 22.5-acre campus called The Hill near the intersection of Eagle and Amity Roads. The Hill is made possible through a unique collaboration among the Treasure Valley Family YMCA, West Ada School District, St. Lukes Health System, City of Meridian Parks and Recreation Department, and Meridian Library District. This is the first YMCA in the U.S. to build a facility with so many partners. The shared campus serves as a model for communities across the country by combining recreation, education, health, wellness, and literacy in one location. Located in the growing, vibrant area where South Meridian, Kuna, and southwest Boise meet, it is where we will come together to create intentional and lasting impact in the areas of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Pool Rules & Policies

Per the guidance of Local and State guidelines and best practices as well as for the safety of our members and staff, we have implemented the following additional policies, rules, and considerations:

Pool/lane use is for lap swim, water walking and exercise and will be restricted to 1 swimmer per lane ages 13+

Family/Open Swim use will require advance reservation. Please see pool schedule above to reserve a lane.

Swimmers will be able to reserve their lane 24 hours in advance.

Swimmers will be expected to check in with an aquatics staff at the start of their lane reservation block.

Swimmers who are more than 5 minutes late to the start of their reservation may forfeit their lane.

All swimmers must take a cleansing shower prior to entering the pool.

Communal YMCA equipment, including water belts, water weights, kick boards, noodles and pull bouys will not be available. Swimmers will need to supply their own equipment.

Towel service has been suspended. Members will need to supply their own.

Due to high demand, only one reservation per swimmer per day will be allowed.

  • The Y wants you to have a safe swim experience. Rules will be enforced in accordance to our safety standards
  • A full cleansing shower must be taken by all swimmers. Street clothes or workout clothes are not permitted in pools or hot tub.
  • Bandaids should be removed before entering any pool. No open sores in the pool.
  • No cell phones allowed in pool area or Spa. No pictures or videos.
  • Horseplay is not permitted
  • The Ymca Membership Benefit: Aquatics

For a better understanding, the YMCA pays the City of Kingsport a portion of all membership revenue to ensure the members of the Kingsport YMCA have access to use both the indoor and outdoor facilities of the Kingsport Aquatic Center whether all or none of the membership base chooses to use the facilities. One of the many benefits to you is the ability to use land OR water in your wellness activities, family or personal recreation, and the access to an amazing resource in our community which has the capability to improve the quality of life in Kingsport and the surrounding area. As previously mentioned, you also have the benefit of paying the member rate for classes and programs offered by the KAC.

As a friendly reminder, because we are separate organizations with different staff, programs, and expectations, some facets of your experience may be different on each side of the facility. One example would be that the Y allows outside food and/or drink, but the KAC does not, giving the need to keep coolers and picnics on the Y side only. Please review the Know Before You Go page on their website or click on the Kingsport Aquatic Center Know Before You Go Link Below.

Thank you for taking the time to understand the aquatics and swimming opportunities available onsite of your YMCA. Please always seek answers from Y staff if you have other questions or concerns regarding this incredible benefit of membership.

Will Lap Swimmers Be Able To Reserve Lanes At Umly’s 50m Pool

There will not be lane reservations this year. Prior to last year, we did not have lane reservations and weve always had plenty of space in the pool. A designated staff person will be checking memberships as members arrive to use the 50M pool. They will be stationed at the double doors by the exit to B Pool during the week and by the gate to the 50M pool on weekends. Additionally, B Pool will also have lap swimming available throughout the day.

Why Is There A Membership Fee To The Brandywine Ymca’s Outdoor Pool

To provide the safest experience possible, many procedures such as increased staffing and rigorous cleaning and disinfection are being implemented based on recommendations from the CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health. These procedures come with additional costs and as a result, it is necessary to charge a minimal membership fee for the outdoor pool. The cost is very reasonable and additionally, financial assistance and payment plans are available.
