Very Nice Expensive No Hot Tub
Very Nice, Expensive, No Hot Tub. We enjoyed our stay and were glad we went. I am not sure the value is there for what they charge. All in our one night stay for family of four was $650 including food. I would feel better if it had been around $450-500. We ate and used the water park. We did not do any of the other attractions. They seemed kind of small. I find resort attractions to be smaller, more expensive versions of original ones in tourist destination type towns like WI Dells, but hey, I’m sure the kids think they are fun. We went here on the spur of the moment, we live in the area and just wanted to go ride some water slides for one night on a weekend that was too cold to be outside but too warm to ski, so we just concentrated on the water park. It was good enough. I was surprised to find they took out the hot tub that used to be at the water park when this was owned by Water Park of America. How can you have a waterpark without a hot tub? If you get cold you are stuck trying to warm up under the huge ceiling fans and fluorescent lights.Service, rooms, quality of food was all excellent. You do pay for it.More

What Restaurants Are Nearby
There are plenty of dining options inside the park. We enjoyed everything from the Bavarian pretzel snacksto salads, pizza and pastato an upscale dinner of steak salad and grilled trout. It was delicious.
But, if you insist on heading out, I recommend finding your way into Downtown LaGrange. For an upscale option, I cannot recommend more highly.
We also love Countrys BBQ and Charlie Josephs Famous Hot Dogs and Hamburgers. Charlies has been serving hotdogs in LaGrange for over 90 years. Kids will love the snack bar atmosphere with Coca-Cola memorabilia. Grab a chili cheese dog, a burger, even a PB& J.

How To Get The Most From A Great Wolf Lodge Vacation
If youve never heard of Great Wolf Lodge, you probably dont know many 9-year-olds. This pack of wilderness-themed water-park resorts has been steadily expanding since the 1997 opening of the companys first property in the Wisconsin Dells, which is to indoor water parks what Holland is to tulips. There are now more than a dozen Great Wolf Lodges across the countryin northern Ohio, Southern California, the Dallas suburbs, the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania, and lots of other placeswith more on the way.
Though there are small variations across properties, each site features a hotel with family suites and kid-friendly amenities , all attached to a covered aquatic playground roughly the size of an airplane hangar and stuffed to the rafters with water slides, tipping buckets, swimming pools, and other chlorinated delights. When invited to check out the Poconos resort for a media weekend, I invited along my amphibious niece and nephew, 10-year-old Sage and 9-year-old AJ . None of us had been to a Great Wolf Lodge before, but when the kids talked about it ahead of our visit, they made the place sound like a semi-mythical paradise on the order of Kubla Khans Xanadubut with inner tubes. What Are The Water Park Hours
The times will vary by season. We visited in the dead of summer and on a weekday, and the water park opened at 9am and closed at 8pm. If your are curious about the times before you get there, you can chat with their team via the website.
Ill admit that the late water park opening time is a little frustrating for parents with early risers The attractions opened an hour early, so we hit that part of the park first.
Prior to that, you can enjoy some Dunkin Donuts and snuggle in bed watching some GWT TV like we did.

The former Key Lime Cove at 1700 Nations Dr., in Gurnee, Illinois, has been transformed into a Great Wolf Lodge and, other than Country Springs in the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee, this waterpark is the next closest to Milwaukee.
When Milwaukeeans think Great Wolf Lodge, their minds most likely travel to the Dells. I know my mind does, because thats where my family first experienced the glories of the indoor water park.
But now, the former Key Lime Cove at 1700 Nations Dr., in Gurnee, Illinois, has been transformed into a Great Wolf Lodge, too, and, other than Country Springs in the Ingleside Hotel in Pewaukee, this waterpark is the next closest to Milwaukee, edging out Blue Harbor in Sheboygan by about 6 miles, based on a departure from City Hall.
Great Wolf owns the largest group of indoor water parks in the country, so they know how to do things right. While the waterpark itself doesnt appear to have changed all that much , the property did get a makeover and I like that Great Wolf seems to have thought of most everything.
For example, when you go to the waterpark, you dont want to have to bring your room keys and wallet .
Great Wolf puts your credit card info on your waterpark wristband, which also opens the door to your room, allowing you to leave your valuables behind. Having said that, the room had no safe, which is an amenity we use every time we stay in a hotel.
The only thing missing was a hot tub in which daddy could enjoy his pina colada.

Can I Bring Outside Food
You can! Whether you want to bring food for the baby, snacks for your hungry kiddos, or a bottle of wine for the adults no problem!
You cant bring your coolers into the water park, thoughjust the Lodge.
Here was our trickwe put a cooler on the deck of the outside poolit was outside but on the patio area just outside the pool gate. We were following rulesthe cooler was in the shadeand we could easily access Capri-Suns and granola bars for the boys. Oh, and that bottle of presecco on ice, when my Solo needed a refill.
What To Expect Visiting Great Wolf Lodge During Covid
Great Wolf Lodge is open and operating! Full of family fun, there are a few things that will be different when you visit because of COVID-19. Here are a few things you need to know before you go.
Masks are Required in Public SpacesLike much of the rest of Washington, you are required to wear a facial covering outside of your room when around other guests. The exception to this is when enjoying the waterpark. While participating in water activities you do not have to wear a facial covering. Disposable masks are available around the resort if you walk out of your room and forget.
Day Passes to the Water Park are NOT AvailableYou cannot purchase day passes to the water park. Birthday parties are also unavailable at this time. Water Park access is only available to guests staying at the resort.
Hot Tubs are ClosedUnfortunate for me, the hot tubs are closed. The only kind of pool I like is a hot tub, and since you cant socially distance inside it, they are closed.
Eating Inside the Restaurants is Temporarily UnavailableDue to Washington State Mandate, eating inside the restaurants is temporarily unavailable. This will hopefully life soon. Right now, you can only order your food to go. You can eat at tables inside the waterpark or inside your hotel room.
Character Meet & Greats are ModifiedWhile you cant high five or hug the characters, you can still meet them and grab a photo. You must keep your mask on and stay outside the fenced in area.

What Should I Bring
Kiddo and adult lifejackets, as well as towels, are available for use free of charge.
Besides the regular were heading to a resort with a water park gear, Id add the following to my packing list:
- Swim shoes, if you have them, for walking around the water park. We felt safe for the most part, but any wet surface can get slippery so if you have slip-resistant pool shoes that is a plus.
- Closed-toe shoes for the ropes course and rock climbing wall. You are not permitted to climb without them.
- A cooler with snacks to cut down on the amount of food youll need to purchase.
- Your MagiQuest wand from a previous visit. You can re use it here!
- A wet-bag for packing out those swim suites before you leave
- Your kids most comfy PJs, because everyone is wearing theirs at story time!
- Bathing suit cover ups, because it is very common to wear your suites around the Lodge as you are going back and forth from the attractions to the water park. Life is better with a cover up.
- A waterproof phone case will make sure your phone isnt ruined from a rouge spray while you are capturing those perfect smiles. .

You might have heard of Great Wolf Lodge as a mainstay among other indoor waterparks at the Wisconsin Dells. Our family had planned on taking our maiden voyage to the Dells this December, but I found out that Great Wolf Lodge had purchased and renovated the old Key Lime Cove in Gurnee, Ill. And while I love a good road trip, I jumped at the chance to cut a 4 ½ hour drive nearly in half after all, it was the end of December and my childrens ability to tolerate car rides is about as predictable as Illinois weather.
Who Would Enjoy a Vacation at Great Wolf Lodge?
You probably wont have a fun time if you dont love being by the pool. Youre going to get splashed and youre going to share water space with people. Notably, Great Wolf Lodge is very loud. I regularly found myself on sensory overload from the noise and commotion. Some kids and adults wore noise-canceling headphones in the waterpark and the rest of the resort. If anyone in your family has sensory issues, plan ahead. But for as loud as the waterpark and activity areas can get, we found our suite to be a very quiet, comfortable place to relax and reset.
You can really spend as much as you want to spend at GWL, from an economical one-night stay to a longer deluxe stay to take advantage of all the paid extras. I was encouraged by the diversity of the GWL guests.

Are There Allergy Friendly Options
Although parents who have children with severe allergies still need to be vigilant, Great Wolf Lodge makes a great effort to be an allergen-friendly zone by taking all peanuts and tree nuts out of their dining facilities, and chefs are always available to talk to guests about their familys specific dietary needs. They even have separate, allergy-free prep areas that are utilized when preparing meals for guests with dietary restrictions.
