In order to combat this issue, its recommended you replace the water in your hot tub every 3-4 months. You should replace it more frequently if you use the hot tub a lot.

In a nutshell, you should add a chemical that cleans all the built-up gunk in your pipes right before you drain it. This will clean the inside of your hot tub.

How To Clean And Replace A Hot Tub Jet Easy Step
1. The first step in replacing your hot tub jet is to open the jets. This can be done easily by turning the jets outer ring from left to right.
2. With the spa pumps off, close the jet by turning the outer ring all the way to the left.
3. Hot tub jet removal isnt complicated, but you may need to give it another 1/4 turn. For stuck jets, use a pair of rubber gloves from the kitchen to get a good hold on the outer ring. If your jets have never been removed before, they can be difficult to detach. This is normal.
4. Soak the jets in a container filled with water and white vinegar for 3-4 hours. A 50% mixture of each is fine. The vinegar solution removes minerals that have deposited on the spas components.
5. Swirl the jets in the solution every hour to rinse off some of the sand and/or calcium, as it begins to loosen. If your jets are really dirty, you may want to consider soaking them overnight. Also, sometimes it helps to use a small brush to scrub the internal gears of the jet.
6. When the time is up, rinse the jet with fresh water from a hose or the kitchen sink
7. Rotating jets should spin as if they were new. If they dont, the bearing may be worn and the whole jet assembly must be replaced.
8. It is important to replace your jets accurately. To re-install the jet: insert the jet into the housing, and rotate it to the right. The jet should easily lock.
Note: Jets of the same size are interchangeable and can be placed anywhere in your spa.
Add A Jet Cleaner To The Water
While the water is being heated and the jets are running, you should add a jet cleaning solution or a jet cleaner to the water in the hot tub.
The jet cleaner should be added to the water in the right quantity. Check the instructions on the container of the jet cleaner to know how much cleaner you need to add to the water.
If you dont want to use a jet cleaner or you dont have one nearby, you can add powdered dishwasher or detergent to the water. You can also add two or three tablespoons of bleach to the water in the hot tub for a thorough clean of the jets.
As an expert tip, you shouldnt add too much bleach or detergent to the water in the hot tub. Its not ideal to add such acidic products to the water in your hot tub because these products can disrupt your water chemistry and they can also damage the filters, headrests, the shell, and other parts of your hot tub. So, your best bet is to go with a jet cleaner. Only use bleach or detergent as the last resort.

Jetted Tub Noises Are Normal
You can expect to hear some noise when you run the bathtub jets. Since jets run from an engine, you might hear the engine crank when the jets startup.
