The Water Will Be Softer

Pool FROG vs. Other Pool Care Systems ( Comparison )

If youve spent any time in a chlorine pool, you know you come out of it feeling like a dried prune. Your skin is dry and possibly itchy, and your hair feels like straw. Not to mention, that nice bathing suit you bought may fade, bleached out by the chlorine.

Water sanitized with minerals is softer and gentler on your skin, hair, and swimwear. Youll notice it when youre swimming because the water has a silky feel. And youll notice it afterward when you dont have to empty a bottle of lotion to restore your skins moisture.

It Will Reduce Wear On Pool Equipment

If chlorine is harsh on your body, what do you think its doing to your pool equipment? Sure, the pump, filter, and every other piece are made to withstand exposure to chlorinated water day in and day out. But still, over time, that chemical wears on plastic and moving parts.

Because minerals make the water softer, the equipment that stays wet all the time isnt subjected to that abuse. It may even work better and last longer, which can save you money.

Does Coffee Help Scare Away Frogs

Indeed, coffee can injure and even kill frogs.

The frogs oxygenate the blood through their skin. If these are sprayed with coffee, the frog dies.

Under no circumstances should you splash coffee on the frogs!

I cannot say whether it is legally permissible to sprinkle coffee around the pool to keep the frogs away from your pool.

However, it is assumed that the smell of coffee is perceived as unpleasant for the frogs.

Dont Use Ammonia Fertilizer

Meet the frog with a Norfolk accent

Some people cruelly suggest using ammonia fertilizer on your lawn when trying to get rid of frogs. Itll certainly work to get rid of frogs, but you should know that ammonia fertilizer kills frogs.

If you dont wish to kill the local frog population, then youre going to want to stay far away from ammonia fertilizer. This is a completely unnecessary thing to do and most would consider killing frogs to be a negative thing.

Even if you dont have affection for frogs, its easy to see how annoying this could be. If you use ammonia fertilizer on your lawn, then youre going to have a bunch of dead frog bodies on your lawn.

Itll be up to you to dispose of these frog bodies, and thats going to be less than pleasant. Use the methods above that wont kill frogs because they make a lot more sense overall.

How Long Does Pool Frog System Last

Pool FROG minerals have a shelf life of six months or one pool season, whichever is the shorter. Once the minerals have been taken from the water, they are not permitted to be utilized again the following season. FROG minerals have a four-month shelf life in spas. Simply change every four months, or anytime you drain and refill your spa, to keep it running well.

Ever Heard Of The Placebo Effect It Kinda Works With Swimming Pools Too

The placebo effect is a real thing. You may not know this, but every drug that is approved by the FDA has to perform only marginally better than a placebo. This is because a placebo is sometimes just as effective as the thing that actually cures you. And sometimes even more so.

When it comes to swimming pool chemistry, the placebo effect is present as well. This doesnt mean that chemicals that really dont kill or get rid of will actually kill and get rid of stuff. But if the pool owner thinks that they will help, then they will believe that they are using fewer other chemicals .

Having a large Facebook group for above ground swimming pools AND being in the pool business for all of my life, Ive heard lots and lots of people make crazy claims of pool chemistry equipment add-ons like I dont need to add any chlorine or it keeps my PH perfect, and other impossibilities.

My favorite one is people stating that their salt pool feels so much better than when they had a chlorine pool or that my kid is allergic to chlorine, so now he can swim in our saltwater pool.

These are extremes in the realm of the placebo effect. Most will just think that the water feels better to them. This is especially true for pools with mineralizers. They must be thinking about being at a spa and taking a mineral bath. Yeah, not at all the same thing.

Heat The Pool Water Against Frogs

Frogs avoid water that is too warm and prefer cold water.

The reason is: There is more oxygen in cold water, and since frogs supply the blood with oxygen through their skin, the amphibians feel more comfortable in cold water.

You can heat your pool in different ways:

  • Solar cover: This covers the pool, prevents heat loss, and heats the pools water.
  • Solar rings: The rings float on the waters surface and, if there is enough sunshine, also heat the pool water.
  • Pool solar heating: Solar heating consists of black hoses. These are switched into the water cycle and transfer the stored heat to the water flowing through.
  • Pool heat pump: The heat pump for the pool is a little more expensive but independent of the sun and much more effective when heating the pool do not buy a heat pump below 8 kWh!

The warm water will not completely drive the frogs away from your pool, but they will try to get out of the pool themselves after the first bath in the warm pool water and look for other water sources.

That is why a suitable aid for animals to get out should be in every large swimming pool.

Opening Your Pool Early

Why You Need Pool FROG!

Opening your pool sooner in the season will not only allow you to enjoy those early warm weather weekends that sneak up on us each year, but planning ahead also gets your pool ready, so you don’t have to stress, rushing last minute to try to enjoy some fun in the sun.

Most importantly, opening your pool early makes the cleaning process much easier since waiting until the weather is warmer allows for algae to grow during those heat waves, which equals more cleaning work and a longer lead time to swim time. An early opening gives algae little chance to grow. That said, here are some successful pool opening steps to take to prepare for a great season.

So we’ve mentioned a portion of the secret combination: Open your pool early, and as you can see, using E-Z POOL and REVIVE! can aid you in achieving a balanced, clear pool much more quickly than having to measure out multiple different chemical types and still have to suffer for lower water quality. E-Z POOL and REVIVE! however, are missing one KEY ingredient to being a full and complete pool maintenance system. While they contain everything you could need for perfectly balanced water, they do not contain sanitizer, which cleans the water. That’s where POOL FROG comes in, giving you clean mineral water, without the need to source expensive and hard-to-find chlorine tablets.

Removing The Frogs From Your Pool

Using a pool or fishnet isnt the most humane way of removing frogs from your pool. Instead, it is recommended that you use a bucket.

Simply scoop the frogs out of the pool before relocating them to another water source such as a nearby pond.

Once you have removed them you will then need to implement effective methods to stop them from coming back again.

What Does The Frog System Do For Your Pool

Most frog system products deliver two separate products into the pool water minerals and chlorine. Out of these two, chlorine is clearly the more important one.

Basic pool chemistry in its easiest form requires you to introduce chlorine in two ways by shocking it and constantly adding a small amount of it.

NOTE:There are a couple of alternatives for using chlorine in a swimming pool, however, I never cover them as chlorine is used in 99% of all pools and the alternatives are expensive, problematic, and not as effective as chlorine is.

There are a couple of ways to chemically maintain a swimming pool. The most basic process is to periodically shock the pool. Here in Central Florida, the summer conditions are extreme, so most pools should be shocked once a week during the summer.

Shocking means introducing a large amount of sanitizer into a body of water in a short period of time

In addition to periodically shocking a pool, small amounts of chlorine should be introduced to the pool constantly. This is where slow-dissolving tablets come into play.

The options for delivering slow-dissolving tablets into the pool are either by using a floating chlorinator or an inline chlorinator.

Floating chlorinators are cheap and work well, but do get in the way of swimmers as it is carrying toxic chlorine tabs and is floating in the pool. In-line chlorinators are nice in that swimmers are never closely exposed to the tablets while in the pool.

The Mineral Reservoir, which contains minerals that kill germs all summer long, is then installed within the tank.

Frogs Often Die In Pools

Another thing to understand is that frogs will often wind up dying in pools. Pools might be easier for frogs to enter than they are for them to exit.

The edge of the pool might be too high for the frog to jump to from the water. Frogs are good swimmers, but theyre only going to be able to swim around for so long until their stamina gives out.

This means that a frog will eventually get too tired and will drown in the pool. Youll be left with dead frog bodies in your pool that youll have to dispose of.

You might think that frogs would be smart enough to get out using the pool steps, but frogs dont always understand they can do this. Also, many people remove the pool steps when they arent in the pool.

If you dont want to see dead frogs in your pool on a semi-regular basis, then youll need to take steps to keep frogs away from the pool. Thankfully, there are many ways that you can do just that.
