What Is The Pop Century Resort
Announced in December 1999, Disneys;Pop Century Resort is a;Value Resort. It is located near Disneys Hollywood Studios at Osceola Parkway and Century Way and encompasses 177 acres. Originally the Resort was to have two completely different areas: the Classic Years and the Legendary Years . The Legendary Years section was never completed, however, and was reimagined as Disneys Art of Animation Resort.

So Which Resort Is Better
So now that youve gotten all the information you need to know about each resort, its time to decide which is better! The thing is its totally up to you and what you prefer more! We cant really say that one is better than the other because some people prefer Pop Century and some people prefer Art of Animation.
We love the theming and wonderful rooms of Art of Animation, but the hardwood floors of the rooms at Pop Century are loved as well! Going to Pop Century reminds me of my childhood, so sometimes I prefer to stay there just for the nostalgia! It is totally up to what you like and what your preference is! Space Differences Between Rooms At The Resorts
There is a slight space difference in the rooms at Pop Century vs. Art of Animation. The Art of Animation Little Mermaid standard rooms are slightly bigger by about 17 square feet.
This gives guests a little more breathing room and space to walk around compared to the Pop Century rooms. There is no murphy bed in the Art of Animation standard rooms, but it doesnt feel too cramped.
The great thing about the Pop Century rooms is there are two beds, but one of them is a murphy bed that turns into a table when put up. This allows the room to feel more open and gives you more space to move around. However, when the bed is pulled down it can feel a little more cramped than the Art of Animation rooms.
Overall, the regular rooms at Art of Animation and the rooms at Pop Century are very similar in size.

Swimming Pools At Pop Century Disney Value Resort
Eclectic vibes come over you as you walk through the courtyards of the Disney Pop Century and see all of the amazing sights taking you back in time but your kids have their mind on something else, splashing and frolicking in the three pools located around the Pop Century Resort. There are truly no limits to the fun and each of the pools are excitingly unique. A kiddie pool is located behind the family pool and is perfect for the little ones with zero-entry access and bubbling fountains.
You Can Rent A Cabana In Disney World
If you want some extra luxury while youre lounging by the pool, you can rent a cabana! Theyre available for all resort guests at Disneys Contemporary Resort and Disneys Grand Floridian Resort, and theyre available at Disneys Yacht & Beach Club Resorts for those guests only.
Yacht and Beach Club Cabanas
Your cabana will have padded furniture, a TV, a ceiling fan, and a mini-fridge stocked with complimentary snacks and water. Cabana rentals start at around $150 for a half-day and vary based on resort and pool location be sure to call for information specific to your stay. Each cabana can hold up to 6 people.
Grand Floridian Pool
Keep in mind that theres a cheaper option, too: there are free cabanas at Disneys Art of Animation Resort at the Cozy Cone Pool. Your cabana wont have all the same plush perks, but its complimentary AND shaped like a cozy cone!

Overview Of Disneys Pop Century Resort
If youre nostalgic for the 80s, then Disneys Pop Century Resort is for you. This resort opened back in 2003 and takes guests on a nostalgic look back on five different decades spanning from the 50s to the 90s thanks to the giant decorations they have adorning the buildings. Guests will find larger-than-life foosball tables, Mickey Mouse telephones, Big Wheels and other decade-related memorabilia scattered around the courtyards, all of which make for excellent photo ops :
Like Art of Animation, this resort is also considered to be a value resort and as such, has a layout thats comparable to the other resort mentioned on this list. This property is huge and has 10 different buildings and a total of 2,880 rooms. It has three pools, poolside bar, and a joint gift shop and food court called Everything Pop Shopping and Dining that can be found in Classic Hall the resorts main lobby.;The food court is not heavily themed and serves Mickey waffles for breakfast, pizza, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, pasta and more. Its also home to that world-famous and super colorful rainbow cheesecake!

Pop Century Resort Rooms
Standard rooms at this resort are consistent with Disneys other Value resorts. The average room size is 260 square feet with either 1 Queen size bed plus 1 Queen size pull-down bed or 1 King bed. Pop Century also offers Preferred Rooms.
The Walt Disney World Resort gives the title preferred room is given to a guest room that is closest to the main area of the resort. In this case, preferred rooms are those closest to the main pool area, Classic Hall, with the Everything Pop Food Court and Gift Shop, the Lobby, and the Bus transportation area and usually have a pool view.
The rooms were recently renovated and updated with a re-imagined theme and drop-down table bed , similar to the ones in Disneys Art of Animation Resort family suites. Be sure to ask at check-in at the front desk in the Classic Hall if your room has been updated.
Pop Century Resort Rooms At Walt Disney World
The rooms at Pop Century have been updated! See all the new refurbishments here.;The rooms are the standard size for a Value resort and sleep up to 4. They have a curtain that separates the bedroom from the vanity area. I know this drives a lot of people crazy, but usually I am just traveling with only G or G and my sister so its not a big deal. The beds were clean and comfy and that is really all we need from a bed.; The bathroom is also similar to other Value resorts, with the vanity section separated from the bathroom and they supply the basic toiletries.

Dining At Pop Century Resort
Inside the main building of Pop Century you will find an explosion of colors and patterns. The decor is definitely not subtle!
The main building is where you can eat and shop inside the hotel. Pop Century has a huge food court with a lot of Counter Service Dining options.
And always make sure you grab a yummy dessert at the end! As I mentioned before, usually you can choose to have a dining plan with your hotel package but as Disney is reopening dining plans are temporarily unavailable.;
The customer experience for Pop Century and Art of Animation is very similar. Both Resorts have a majority of positive reviews from past guests who loved their experiences.
You Can Pool Hopon One Condition
Guests are not allowed to pool hop in Disney World. That means when you pick your resort, youre picking the pool, too! However, you CAN go to a different pool on one condition: if youre staying at one of Disneys Port Orleans Resorts.
Port Orleans Riverside
If youre at one of these resorts, you can hop between the pools at Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside. Thats access to over half a dozen pools! Port Orleans Riverside has a feature pool and 5 leisure pools, while French Quarter has the Mardi Gras-themed Doubloon Lagoon . If you want lots of options, this may be a factor you want to consider when choosing a resort. Keep in mind, however, that both Port Orleans resorts are temporarily closed.;Well keep you updated as we get reopening information!

Note that typically Disney Vacation Club members CAN pool hop to other DVC resorts if they show proof of their membership, but the list of acceptable pools to visit has gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Pool Hopping for DVC hasnt been allowed since the reports reopened. If youre a DVC member, be sure to check which pools are available to you if/when this feature returns.

There are NOT any Water Slides or a Lazy River at the Pop Century Value Resort but you will find a Kiddie Splash zone with gentle bubbling fountains near the main Flower Pool.
