When In Doubt Call A Pro
As youve seen, installing a deep end in your above ground pool can be quite complex. It requires some precise installation, which is the last thing you want from a pool that is supposed to be easy to install. Therefore, we recommend that if you are unsure of how to proceed, consult an expert.
Its key that these steps are done correctly. If done improperly, your pool will feel uneven and awkward. Even worse, the ground pressure could cause leaks within the lining. Thats an even harder problem to fix. Therefore, you want to have it done exactly to the manufacturers specifications. This sometimes requires the consultation of a professional.
This will drive up the cost of the installation significantly, but its still much cheaper than in-ground swimming pools. So unless you are very confident in your abilities to set up a durable above ground pool with an even base, then you will likely want to consult a pro pool builder for this task. The money you save on potential hazards down the line will be nothing compared to how much these pools cost initially to install.
The Final Word On The Best Above
With the best above-ground pool, your backyard becomes a fun zone. From large rectangle above-ground pools for swimming laps to small oval above-ground pools for parties, you can find a great new way to stay cool this season. With an eye on size and shape, zoom in on the model that fits your needs. Whatever style you choose, swim safe and always supervise children. Also, consider making the jump to a saltwater above-ground pool for a more natural, soothing swim. Whatever you choose, one of these pools will transform your home into the neighborhood oasis.
Above Ground Pool Ladder Price
The final component common to an above ground pool kit is the ladder or entry system. You will find an A-frame ladder will be the go to choice for most retailers. These are very cost effective and work great on above ground pools. If you would like something a bit more substantial, you can generally upgrade to an entry system, which will include steps that go down on the inside of the pool and additionally handrails to assist with entry and exit from the pool. If you plan to install a wood deck around your pool, there are also deck mount options for the ladders that allow for a seamless transition from the deckto the ladder or entry system.
Cost To Install An Above Ground Pool In The Ground
Installation costs are going to vary by size, how deep you are going into the ground, local electrician rates, and a lot more. I will estimate installation including excavation installation, electrical, along with backfill and setup with plumbing to cost $7000.00.
Of course, if you can do any or all of this installation work for yourself, you will save on the job.
Installing an Optimum or Radiant Pool inground require a 1-foot of cement around the base of the wall. That will add to the cost and aggravation of any installation.

What Pool Depth Is Right For You
To help you decide on a pool depth, consider the following questions.
What Will You Use Your Pool For?
Generally speaking, a residential pool can be used for diving, wading, playing games, and swimming laps. Many people use their backyard pools for cooling off and lounging, so they dont require much depth. But if you plan to use for the pool for multiple purposes, then youll want to consider using multiple depths.
A recreational pool needs a large shallow area. Most pool steel walls are 42 high and the water level is about 4 lowerhalfway or a bit higher into the skimmer. That means 38 standard shallow end, and typically a 6-foot deep end. If you plan to use your pool for playing volleyball, or if people with limited swimming abilities will be using your pool, then you will want a shallow pool.
If you plan to use your pool for multiple purposes, consider a multi-depth pool, which has various depths throughout, e.g., ranging from 3 feet to 8 feet.
If you plan to have a fun pool for lots of activities, then youll want to consider a pool that is a minimum depth of 3 feet to accommodate both adults and children, and a maximum depth of 5 or 6 feet for safety.
Who Is Using Your Pool?
A shallow pool is easier and safer to use for all ages and swimming abilities. If you have young children, a shallow pool may seem ideal. But if you plan to be using your pool when your kids are teenagers and young adults, you may also want a deeper pool.

Semi Inground Pool Installation Faqs
Average cost of a semi-inground pool?
$3000.00-$5000.00 depending on pool size, pool shape, and depth. This price is for excavation, building pool and set-up, installing pool liner and filter system, and back-filling. Landscaping, Electrical Service, and Water would all cost extra.
How long do semi-inground pools last?
If you install a quality swimming pool like an Aquasport 52 you can expect 40-60 years. If you install a quality regular above ground pool with a rolled wall, maybe 15-20 years, but you risk the wall caving in when you replace the pool liner in 7-9 years.
How deep can a semi inground pool be?
You cannot put a deep-end in an above ground pool. Sure you can dish the center a bit on a round pool, but above ground pools are constant depth pools. With a 52 inch pool wall you get roughly 48-50 inches of water.
How much does it cost to dig a hole for a pool?
$1500.00 to $3000.00. It depends on the depth your installing it and the size of your pool. This price does not include back-filling the pool once it is built.
What Are The Largest And Smallest Options
Small pools are great for people who have limited space in their backyard not to mention that its a great way to save money. The smallest round pool you can find is about 12 feet in diameter. Oval pools run as small as 12 feet by 16 feet. Rectangle pools cater to the sporting swimmer, so they run a bit larger at 12 feet by 20 feet.
The largest sizes can benefit a large family or anyone who hosts many parties throughout the summer. Round pools run as large as 33 feet in diameter and 4 ½ feet deep. Oval and rectangular pools run deeper than the round options at 6 feet deep. Oval and rectangular pools are made as large as 16 feet wide by 32 feet long.

What Is Your Backyard Like
The first thing you need to consider when buying a new above ground pool is what your backyard is like. There are two things that you really want to look at:
Testing Your Sand Bottom
The weight of the water in the pool will help to compact the sand bottom underneath the liner. Generally it takes 5-10 days for the sand to be fully compacted and become hardened.
The first time you get in the pool to swim, gently feel the bottom of the pool to ensure the sand is sufficiently compacted. If the bottom is still soft, give it a few more days before walking around on the bottom.
***Country Leisure Pro Tip: Leaving footprints in the bottom of the pool will make it extremely difficult to vacuum your pool dont rush this step!

Read This Before You Install The Pool
Are you about to install an above ground pool and wondering how to avoid the most common above ground pool installation mistakes? In my nearly forty years of installing above ground pools I have seen them all. You see, when people make an above ground pool installation mistake, they call me to fix it.
Attempting to install a pool on a base of sand is an installation mistake that is made a lot. The sand is a cushion for the liner only, the frame needs to sit on firm, level ground. If there is sand anywhere near the bottom rail when the wall is being installed it can become a real mess. The rail fills up with sand and the wall will not go in the way it is supposed to.
An above ground pool installation mistake I see a lot is letting the sidewall stand without support. New sidewalls start looking used real fast when they are allowed to blow over a few times. Sidewalls left with no support, or held up with string or tape, will usually fall over a time or two. Every time they fall over they get dented, scratched and creased. If you build the pool frame as you install the wall it will never be left unsupported. It is also helpful to plan your installation so that when the wall goes up you have enough time to finish with the liner installation. The pool is only completely stable when it has water in it.
This page,Above Ground Pool Installation, shows you how two people can build a pool without any of these big time pool building mistakes.
Which Is Better Oval Or Round Above Ground Pool
People will often think that an oval above ground is a stronger design or is made with better materials or will last longer than the less expensive round pool. The only reason an oval pool costs more than a round one is because of the ovals buttress structure. Unlike a round pool, an oval has straight sides.

Above Ground Pool Pump & Filter Price
Your above ground pool pump & sand filter will be the next component of the pricing and will depend on the size of pump and filter needed. You will find that both 1 speed and 2 speed pumps can be used, with 2 speed pumps being the more expensive option. The 2 speed pump simply allows for the flexibility of a high and low setting, allowing the pump to remain on 24 hours / day on low, and generates some energy efficiency. Additionally, you will see 0.5 hp pumps up to 2 hp pumps being offered.
The sand filter size will be based on the size of your pool common sizes in the industry are 100#, 300# and 400# sand filters. Some above ground pool retailers choose cartridge filters in place of sand filters and their size is calculated as the filter surface area.
Your pool retailer will generally have a standard option of pump that is put with their pool kit, but you can always ask to upgrade if you would like a different pump for your pool. There is no upgrade to the sand filter it is strictly based on the size of your pool.
Semi Buried Or Fully Buried Above Ground Pool
These pools are similar to the traditional above ground pools discussed above, however, they willhave fully insulated wall panels that are significantly stronger to combat the ground forces pushingin on the walls. These pools will come in a variety of sizes, even the more free form look.
Pros: More of the inground look and feel with a relatively quick install about 3-5 days depending on size and site location, long term solution, warranty.
Cons: Cannot be easily re-located if you move, price point for this option is fairly high due to installation, not conducive to a DIY install.
