The Network Wanted A Pool To Be Done In 30 Days
We have always been curious as to how the outside world perceives what we do, so we asked Kyle and Justin. Kyles response was that the network basically thought a pool could be built in 30 days and they could produce a show as fast as they do all the home renovations on similar shows. As we all know, that is not the case. Kyle said that they bumped heads several times over certain things that the guys at Peek Pools were not going to waver on. At the end of the day when the show is over, they go away but the customer is still there said Kyle. We love the fact that they stuck to their principles throughout the show and that they were still able to entertain us while stil producing a quality product.

Keith Zars Pools is being featured on five episodes of the second season of Pool Kings, a reality TV show on the DIY Network, which is an American cable network that focuses on personality-based and documentary-style reality series related to home repairs and renovations.

We have asked hundreds of pool builders what their favorite part about the build is and more often than not, the answer is when they show the homeowner the completed project for the first time. If you havent seen the show, they save this part until the very end and made it a focal point. As a fan of the show, we anticipate this moment and it never disappoints. We were a little disappointed however to hear that it takes several shots to get the reveal recorded so that they get the best reaction. We understand it, but in our hearts we like to think it is the first time they have seen the pool.
Kyle did say that they had one true reveal and that it was the scariest build of his career. The homeowner was away in London the whole build so they did not see the pool progress. He said that when they saw the pool for the first time they loved it. Luckily they did right?!

The center of the Pool Kings kingdom is a renovated thrift shop on Duplex Road in Spring Hill.
They just moved in last month and there are still some wires hanging from the ceiling and boxes of tools next to the front door. A TV plays a highlight reel of some of the fancy pools they have built, and some of their awards hang on the wall.
Kyle Peek and his son Justin Peek still operate their pool construction business Peek Pools out of the shop, but starting in 2016 they also became the stars of a home improvement show called The Pool Kings where they build high-end pools. Next month theyre going to give a presentation about finding a good pool contractor at the Home and Remodeling Expo in Nashville.
They became the pool kings when they got a call from a TV producer a few years ago who wanted to make a reality show about building pools for the DIY network.
It wasnt a joke. The DIY network had seen the success of other renovation shows and wanted to replicate it.
The network already has shows called Kitchen Crashers where an interior designer finds shoppers at home improvement stores and then renovates their kitchens and The Vanilla Ice Project where the rapper turned real estate investor remodels a Florida mansion. Hiring two pool contractors from Spring Hill, Tennessee, seemed like the obvious next step.
If we were supposed to act we wouldnt be here. Were not actors, Justin Peek said. If its more than two sentences, forget it.

The phone was ringing nonstop Thursday morning in Kyle Peeks warehouse office situated just past the old Thompson Station, among fields of crops and rolling hills.
Franklin, Nashville, California the calls were coming in from everywhere.
Thats Pink Sneakers, the production company, Peek, 54, tells his son Justin, 20 years his junior, who is sitting at a computer on the opposite end of the office, his shirt splattered with concrete mix. They want more social media, more tweeting.
Tweeting! Justin Peek exclaims, incredulous. “What should I tweet about? ‘I’m making a sandwich’? ‘I’m digging a hole’?”
Justin, Kyle and Kyles wife, Miki, feel they are just your average small-town folks, which may be the case until Monday night that is, when television audiences will decide whether the family has the makings of reality television stardom.
The family business Peek Pools & Spas will be featured on a pilot for the show Pool Kings, which will air on the DIY Network at 8:30 p.m.
