Cemetary Shade & Black Knife Assassin

Elden Ring – Mt Gelmir Fort Laiedd: Armorer’s Cookbook, Runes and Summoning Pool Location Gameplay

You’ll find two familiar bosses in the Black Knife Catacombs fortunately, you don’t have to fight them both at the same time. The Cemetary Shade is the more obvious boss, while the easily overlooked Black Knife Assassin fight can be reached by slashing at an illusory wall at the back of the room with the skeleton warrior and archer inside.

You’ll have encountered both these bosses in Limgrave, but the Black Knife Assassin in particular is more dangerous than before, making it clear that the one you faced in the Deathtouched Catacombs is far from the strongest Black Knife Assassin in Elden Ring. Nor is this one, but, well… We’ll deal with that later.

Necromancer Garris & Black Knife Assassin

The Sage’s Cave is home to two bosses in different arenas. The path splits towards the end of the dungeon, with Necromancer Garris on the left, and the Black Knife Assassin on the right.

Necromancer Garris is a fairly straightforward enemy: just dodge his summons and his homing skull attacks, and work on pummelling away at his low poise and low health. But the Black Knife Assassin is a dangerous one, because, for the most part, he’s completely invisible. You have to watch for the splashes he makes in the water to find him most of the time, and be very careful of his grab attack, which can backstab you for colossal damage.

Knights Of The Great Jar X3

Sadly, you don’t get to fight the gigantic Great Jar which sits, arms crossed, before the Caelid Colosseum. Instead, you have three summon signs which allow you to call forth three Knights Of The Great Jar to fight one at a time. Defeat all of them in a row, and you get a reward. These fighters each have different equipment and a different playstyle, so you should play it careful at first to figure out the attack patterns of each one.

Astel Stars Of Darkness

Astel, Stars Of Darkness is an even more powerful version of the already dangerous Astel, Naturalborn of the Void that you can find at the end of the Lake Of Rot beneath Liurnia. Like the first, this Astel loves to use very powerful and multi-phase AoE attacks, but you have to try to stick close to it regardless. An i-frame skill such as Bloodhound’s Step is invaluable for avoiding damage here.

Watch out for Astel’s one-shot move, where it disappears, then reappears as several Astels above you, all reaching out to grab you. If you’re caught, you’re dead, plain and simple. I didn’t take any chances here, firing off Bloodhound’s Step whenever I saw this attack approaching. I suggest you do the same or something similar.

Summonwater Village Location And Loot

Elden Ring Godrick

Summonwater Village is in East Limgrave. However, due to the terrain, you will need to approach from Stormveil. Instead of going through the Stormgate, where there are powerful enemies, you can use the Spirit Spring northwest of Murkwater Coast. From there you can travel north to Saintsbridge and follow the road east.

To the west of the village, close to the Summonwater Village Outskirts site of grace, you will meet D, Hunter of the Dead, who will warn you that the village is dangerous.

Stonesword KeyGreen Turtle Talisman.

There are a few crafting resources throughout the village. Additionally, in an underground room toward the southwest that requires a Stonesword Key, you can find the Green Turtle Talisman. This raises stamina recovery speed when equipped.

Who Are The Legendary Spirit Ashes

These are the most powerful Spirit Ashes in the Elden Ring. You will need to find all six of them for unlocking the Legendary Ashen Remains Trophy and Achievement. All six Legendary Spirit Ashes that you can find in the Elden Ring are given below.

  • Lhutel the Headless: This is dropped by Cemetery Shade, located in Tombsward Catacombs.
  • Black Knife Tiche: This Spirit Ash is obtained as a drop from Alecto, the Black Knife ringleader.
  • Redmane Knight Ogha: In the Eastern Caelid, War-Dead Catacombs it is dropped by Putrid Tree Spirit.
  • Mimic Tear Ashes: This is located in a chest behind a statue in Nights Sacred Ground.
  • Ancient Dragon Knight Kristoff Ashes: In West Leyndell, Royal Capital, Sainted Heros Grave it is dropped by the Ancient Hero of Zamor.
  • Cleanrot Knight Finlay Ashes: In the Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree you can find this Spirit Ashes inside a chest that is guarded by the Cleanrot Knight.

Elden Ring Tailoring Tools & Sewing Needle How To Use

Upon dealing with the two bosses, youll receive a Sewing Needle and Some Tailoring Tools.

While these two items may look significant, only the Sewing Needle is actually important because youll have to bring it back to Boc The Demi-Human as part of his questline explained here.

To use the Elden Ring Tailoring Tools, youll have to head back to a Site of Grace.

While resting, youll see the Alter Garments option , which allows you to alter what your clothes look like.

How To Obtain The Spirit Calling Bell In Elden Ring

To get your hands on the Spirit Calling Bell, fast travel back to the Church of Elleh after interacting with Melina and getting a Torrent in West Limgrave. Youll come back to a passed-out Merchant Kale surrounded by an eerie fog.

Adjacent to the ruined walls, youll come across a peculiar witch who shall give you the Spirit Calling Bell.

Also, its crucial to carry out these steps at night because the probability of coming across the witch during the day is pretty low. If youre still unsuccessful, its safe to assume that she wont appear at the church. In this case, you can buy the Spirit Calling Bell and ashes in the Roundtable Hold.

How To Get To The Mountaintops Of The Giants

Elden Ring SUMMONING POOLS What they are and how to use them
  • Use lift within Leyndell, after defeating Morgott

To even get to this new portion of the map, you’ll need to complete the Leyndell, Royal Capital Legacy Dungeon and access the Grand Lift of Rold. After beating the last boss in the legacy dungeon, Morgott The Omen King, Melina will tell you to visit the Grand Lift and mark it on your map. To get there, you must get to one of the Divine Atlus Towers through Leyndell.

After defeating Morgott, you have to go back to the main street northeast of Avenue Balcony Site of Grace. Instead of going forward where you would have run into an Erdtree Avatar, walk down the street heading east. You can open the large gates at the end and go up some stairs past enemies. There will be a large wooden lift here that will take you to the bridge for the Divine Tower of East Atlus. Run across the bridge and use the next lift to get to the Forbidden Lands. Note that there is a room you can jump into as this lift lowers that will lead you to a room with the Blade of Calling dagger.

The Forbidden Lands is a short snowfield that will lead you to the Grand Lift of Rold. All you have to do is keep heading straight until you reach the Grand Lift. There will be a Golden Seed on your way there. There is a gargoyle boss fight at the entrance to the lift, theBlack Blade Kindred. He won’t be able to enter if you choose to run past him. Inside will be a Palm Reader and the lift to officially take you to Mountaintops of the Giants.

Loretta Knight Of The Haligtree

Completing the Ordina puzzle allows you access to the Haligtree, one of the most difficult and dangerous regions in Elden Ring. But to enter Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, you first have to get past Loretta, Knight Of The Haligtree. Fortunately, this Loretta is near-enough identical to the Loretta you faced in Caria Manor back in Liurnia. Obviously this one is much stronger and hits much harder, but the moves are entirely identical.

Rennala Queen Of The Full Moon

Rennala, Queen Of The Full Moon, is the Great Rune holder of Liurnia, and the main boss of the entire region. Its first phase, while curious, its actually incredibly easy its second phase, however, can be mightily annoying thanks to Rennala’s stunning array of powerful spell attacks and Spirit Ashes. You can find her in the heart of the Academy, in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library.

Check out our Elden Ring Rennala boss fight walkthrough for more details.

Elden Ring Coastal Cave How To Get Inside

The entrance to the Coastal Cave is on the shore southwest of the Church of Elleh, so basically, youll want to descend to the beach to spot it.

You can see it in my screenshot above, and the first thing youll want to do when you get inside is to equip and light your torch.

As you progress, youll reach the Coastal Cave Site of Grace on the left side.

The path towards it is straightforward, so make sure you activate the Site of Grace.

Elden Ring Summoning Pools

Elden Ring players will find themselves tripping over Summoning Pools. There is one right outside of the First Steps, and there is one seemingly around every single corner. Interacting with them seems to make them functional, while not changing anything about the surrounding environment. So, whats the big deal? If youre in this condition, then you are far from alone. Let us learn what this weird totem thing does together!

How To Get Summoned

You can also get summoned by another player in Elden Ring by creating your own Summon signs and Martyr Effigies.

When summoned, youll only have half of your flasks but will have access to your whole inventory. Also, mount and fast travel does not work.

If you die in combat or beat the boss in that region, the multiplayer session will stop. Its a defeat or be defeated scenario during invasions and competitive play.

When summoned, once the purpose of your visit is fulfilled, you will get back to your game. If you want to visit again, you will need to use another multiplayer item.

Dragonkin Soldier Of Nokstella

The first major boss you’ll find in Ainsel River is certainly a big one. The Dragonkin Soldier of Nokstella is one of several Dragonkin Soldiers you’ll come across in the underground layer of Elden Ring’s map, and acts rather like a slightly smaller dragon which prefers claw and slam attacks to breathing fire. It’s a powerful boss who can likely kill you with just a couple of hits, so stay under its legs or at range to keep yourself as safe as possible.

Morgott The Omen King

Morgott, The Omen King is essentially a more powerful version of Margit, The Fell Omen. He’s stronger and faster, and mixes up familiar attack patterns with more challenging and unusual timing attacks to try and catch you off-guard. Once you stun him at roughly half-health, back off quickly to avoid his raging flame attack. I found that bringing the Glintblade Phalanx Ashes Of War or anything else that deals high posture damage is a great way to make the fight easier.

Putrid Tree Spirit X3

Elden Ring Summon Water Village Guide – Green Turtle Talisman Location

Once Leyndell has become the Ashen Capital, if you approach the city starting from the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace to the east, and follow that path to its end, you’ll find a sandy area which was once filled with water. Here, a Putrid Tree Spirit stalks the area, guarding the powerful Erdtree’s Favour +2 talisman. But hidden in the sand are two more Putrid Tree Spirits, making this fight far more challenging that it might first appear.

These Tree Spirits hit very hard, and it can be difficult to keep multiple in sight at once. Fortunately, the silver lining is that they can damage each other as well, and it’s fairly easy to make them do so, given their erratic movements which often lead them into each other’s paths.

How Multiplayer Works In Elden Ring

When you launch Elden Ring, you connect with the games servers automatically. Those servers are portals into other players games. If you don’t want to be online, go to the System > Network, and chose Launch Setting > Play Offline. But even if you do that, parts of Elden Ring will behave as if you were online.

Write messages with the Tarnisheds Wizened Finger

You can see online-like behavior early on, when you walk across notes written on the ground. If you play offline, the only notes youll see are from the games creators. If you play online, youll also see messages from other players. Sometimes, those messages are helpful, like when players warn you of an ambush ahead. Sometimes, they trick you into jumping off a cliff because thats kind of funny, from a certain point of view.

If youre playing online, you can leave messages with the Tarnisheds Wizened Finger item which is Used to write messages to other worlds. Youll get it from a dead body in the Chapel of Anticipation right at the beginning of the game. Write a message, and theyll show up in other players games. If someone rates your message, youll get a bonus to health.

Bloodstains

Bloodstains are a big advantage to playing online, because they show you where and how other players died, so that you dont have to die that way, too.

Elden Ring Boss Order

With such a dizzying number of boss encounters available to players in Elden Ring, it can be confusing to figure out the order in which FromSoftware intended you to fight them. The truth is: there is no clear boss order. The beauty of the open world is that you can go off and fight whoever you like, in whatever order you wish.

But if you want a true boss order list to follow, then here’s our recommended boss order for the essential and important bosses of the game.

What Do Summoning Pools Do In Elden Ring

Summoning Pools in Elden Ring unlock the co-operative multiplayer aspects of the game. By interacting with these pools, you are able to summon allies or enemies to your world. You must be in Online mode to see the Summon Signs of allies or enemies by activating a Summoning Pool. You cannot play in multiplayer in areas that do not have a summoning pool somewhat nearby.

The Summoning Pool is a strange effigy, that is almost like a sling-shot with a martyr on it. They tend to be very close to Lost Grace sites, especially if those sites are near a boss or a dungeon.

This little totem is what you need if you want to play with friends. These pools are typically near difficult bosses or dungeons where Fromsoft has decided to allow cooperative play. So, if you or your friends are having trouble summoning each other, make sure this little totem is nearby beforehand. If you cant find any totems nearby, then youre on your own for that area!

There are specific encounters and bosses that there are simply no summoning pools near. These are thankfully few and far between the game is not designed to be entirely impossible. However, even with these pools, you can still only bring three of your friends to any given encounter. And, if you have friends, then you are able to have more invaders! Make sure you balance it out.

Alecto Black Knife Ringleader

Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader. She’s a tough one. It’s to be expected, given that her Ringleader’s Evergaol lies in the Moonlight Altar, which is a fairly late-game area – far more so than the rest of Liurnia. But it was still a surprise to me just how tough the leader of the Black Knife Assassins really is, with her numerous fast and very damaging attacks and her ability to dodge most ranged attacks you throw at her.

If you see her readying a grab, get out of the way quick, because that grab-and-backstab attack is practically a one-shot-kill – as is her large AoE explosion attack, which you’ll need to steer well clear from before punishing her during her recovery animation.

Creating Summon Signs And Martyr Effigies

If you dont want to ask another player for assistance but would rather be the summoned help, you dont need to check nearby Summon Signs or Martyr Effigies. Instead, you create your own, and players can interact with them and call you.

Ad content continues below

In order to plop down a Summon Sign, you need a Tarnisheds Furled Finger. This item is found on a corpse at the Stranded Graveyard. Look for a Site of Grace near the lift to The First Step. Just use the Furled Finger, and you will spawn a Summon Sign other players can use. Looting the aforementioned corpse also nets you the Finger Severer, which lets you de-summon allies and duelists , as well as un-summon yourself while another player acts as the host.

Ancient Hero Of Zamor

The Ancient Hero of Zamor lies within the Weeping Evergaol, which is the Weeping Peninsula’s only Evergaol. This tall figure utilises a hooked blade and cold attacks, so naturally you should use fire damage if you have it. Dodge around its cold breath attack and hit it from behind for lots of damage.
