Considerations To Make When Envisioning Your Backyard Pool

In order to own a backyard swimming pool that caters to your demands, you need to arrive at a clear decision about your wants and desires from a backyard pool. Swimming pools come in a variety of options now and your individual requirements will dictate the kind of swimming pool your backyard ends up with. You will have to weigh the following considerations when choosing how you want your backyard pool to shape out

Why You Want a Backyard Pool You might want a backyard pool for its aesthetic appeal, or you might want it for your kids to practice swimming. Perhaps, youd like a swimming pool in your backyard to lounge around in when Summer comes by. Your motivation behind installing a backyard swimming pool will influence its depth, size, shape and construction type. In addition to these questions, you might also want to ask yourself if you will be using the pool enough to justify its installation.

Whether Your Backyard Ground Conditions Permit it It is easier and less expensive to install a swimming pool into your backyard if the ground is level. If the ground happens to slope steeply, is sandy/rocky/made of unstable soil, construction expenses are likely to go up.

Phase : Placing The Gravel Foundation

After the excavation is complete, we will place a 2″ thick layer of gravel in the hole which the pool will rest on.

This gravel base determines the height of the pool so we use a laser level to set the gravel at precisely the right elevation.

We are usually at this point at the end of day one or the beginning of day two of construction.

It’s important to note that we use gravel instead of sand for our installations. Let’s talk about why.

Simple Steps Of Fiberglass Pool Installation

At first glance, it may appear to be an incredibly complex project. While that may seem like a daunting task for most of us, the truth is that our dealers are experts at fiberglass pool installation. Most have years of experience installing dozens of pools in all kinds of back yard situations and have gotten the procedure down to a science.

I Have Decided On A Fibreglass Shell For My New Pool But I Have Limited Access To The Backyard What Are The Minimum Access Requirements For The Pool Builder

The truth is that you can build a fibreglass pool in almost any backyard! Even in the tightest of spaces there is usually a way. Generally speaking, the bigger the excavation machinery, the more efficient the removal of dirt is, and therefore the cheaper your costs are for your pool build. If you have limited access to your backyard, dont fret, it just means it may take us a little longer to excavate.

    Standard Access

Standard access to build a new pool is 2m in width. Although your pool builder can arrange to crane in your fiberglass pool shell over a fence or over the house, the standard excavation equipment does require a ground-entry and exit point to your backyard, and this is where it can get complex for limited access sites. The machinery required for a standard access fibreglass pool construction is as follows:

    • A crane to lift in the shell. Normally a Crawler Crane or Franner Crane will suffice for jobs up to 8-20m that do not require a lengthy boom. A Franner Crane is a great lift, load and move crane, and the Crawler Crane is super flexible, making it perfect for smaller spaces.
    • An excavator and bobcat to dig and remove the dirt from your backyard that will be replaced by your sparkling new pool. These are heavy-duty construction machines primarily used to dig Think of them like a well-evolved version of a shovel!

A tight access site may require the following instead:

What Is Not Included In An Entry

    • Water to fill the pool
    • Removal of excess soil away from the homeowners yard. If your yard slopes the excess soil can be placed there. It is not uncommon on small, flat yards that the excess dirt has to be hauled off-site.
    • Potential costs to upgrade your electric panel, should it not have enough amperage available to fulfill the needs of the pool equipment.
    • Fence
    • Handrails and ladders. All of our fiberglass pools include steps that allow for easy entry and exit from the pool. But if you feel like you need that added security, please let us know and we will add it to your package.
    • Boundary survey. In most cases a boundary survey is required to get the permit for pool installation. However, even if a boundary survey is not required, we highly recommend getting one before spending so much money in your backyard. Feel free to call us for a list of competent surveyors.

Key Tips When Installing A Fiberglass Pool On A Sloping Site

What is the Best Pool for a Small Back Yard?

Composite fiberglass pools can be installed on any slope with the proper planning and development. In developing a plan for your backyard dream, it will require a flat area to accommodate the fiberglass pool. Many sites allow for installers to simply grade an area for your swimming pool and concrete. With more homes now being built on sloping sites your pool construction project requires more planning. Here are 4 key tips to consider when installing a fibreglass pool on a sloping site:

  • Be sure to plan it out: The best way to insure that you get a properly built project that you love to share with family and friends is to plan it all out. You are investing in your property and there are a lot of things to consider. A reputable swimming pool installer can provide you with a drawing and job costs for you to look over. A landscape architect may be needed for more involved plans and engineers for large walls over 4 feet tall. Protect your project and your pocketbook by having the proper plan.
  • A sloping backyard will require more planning for you and your pool contractor but it is not an obstacle to keep you from your dream backyard. Always include the proper planning for any project that you desire. Use that plan to get the most out of your hard earned money and start building your fiberglass pool today. Enjoy each day with your family and friends.

    Fiberglass Inground Pool Prices

Because they are more labor intensive, inground pools will cost more than above ground pools. The average above ground pool is under $10,000. Inground pools can be six times that amount or more.

The total cost of an inground pool will depend on the package you select from your pool provider. That price varies from seller to seller, so shop around and find the right fit for you and your budget.

Fiberglass inground pool prices depend heavily on installation and how much work the pool company needs to do. Turn-key installation costs associated with fiberglass inground pools range from $45,000 to $85,000. Fiberglass inground pool packages with a self-install option are much less at around $20,000.

In general, the more labor you take on yourself, the less you will pay for your pool. The materials themselves will cost about $18,000 total. Labor on top of that can cost upwards of $65,000. That includes permits, digging, backfill, grading, filters and electrical work.

How Do We Know How Deep To Dig

Our crew members use what’s known as a dig sheet provided by the pool manufacturer to know how deep to excavate the hole at certain points.

We mark these points with paint on the ground these are called hash marks.

As we dig, we check the depth of the hole at each hash mark until the desired depth is achieved.

Our excavated hole is about a foot larger than the ouside of the pool and about 2 inches deeper than the pool depth.

In the next phase we’ll place 2″ of gravel in the hole which will be the foundation the pool will rest on.

    Before And After Of Yard

We used the same pavers and pattern that we did at our Connecticut house! Why not repeat something you love and we really didnt get to enjoy that space too long. We hired a landscaping company both times to install the pavers. This pattern and style is hard to get level and straight, unfortunately I dont have a tutorial, since we didnt install them. I will say the gray rectangle pavers are taller than the square cement pavers, so you have to dig out the darker gray paver so they sit lower.

Bed The Pool And Place The Shell

    bestbackyardsaround.org

Once you are done with the excavation, you need to lay sand in pool. This process is called bedding and you can use bricks that will temporarily guide you about the depth and the amount of sand you will need to use. When you put the sand in, remember that it needs to be wet, so it can be made really compact with ease. You need the sand to be compact so there are no empty spaces in between that will fall down in time and possibly damage the unit.

When it comes to installing the fiberglass, it is best if the shell is previously compiled so you will only need to place it in the hole. If it is not, its better to ask for help for this part, as it is almost impossible to do it alone. Once everything is set in place and the shell is made, you can use a crane to lower it down in the correct position. Renting a crane for this task will not cost you more than $500 and it is best to invest the money in this so you can make sure that everything is done correctly.
