Diy Pallet Swimming Pool Under $200

How to put together an above ground pool ladder

This pool will cost you about $200 and it’s a simple swimming pool to build using pallet wood, you need a lot of wooden pallets to work with. Start this project by preparing a place on a fresh piece of land around your home, the space you’ll create will take an octagon shape.

You also need flat wood boards to place on top of the pallets so that someone can easily climb on top and dive into the pool and swim. The pool cover is attached in such a way that you can see it inside the wood, but the water can’t escape because it is properly sealed. The list of tools was not stated in the video tutorial, but this is a woodwork project so standard woodworking tools must be used.

Scrub And Store The Pool Cover

If your pool cover still has some life left in it, then give it a good rinse and scrub with some pool cover cleaner and a soft brush. Using any harsh chemicals or sharp implements is just asking for your pool cover to meet its untimely end.

Once youve cleaned a seasons worth of much off of the pool cover, grab your garden hose and rinse the whole thing down. You can either let it dry in the sun, then flip and repeat, or use a leaf blower to shave some time off of your task.

Once the cover is good and dry, fold it up nicely, and store it in a sealed storage bag or container. Leaving a winter or safety pool cover exposed in a garage or shed is basically like putting a For Sale sign on it that only rodents and bugs can read. It will be in tatters come the autumn and all your work will have been for nothing.

Diy Above Ground Pool With Pallets

The first step in making this above-ground pool pallet involves creating a circular space on the ground with a hand digger and a shovel. Pack the sand out and level the ground for the installation of the pallets. Before installing the pallet, youll have to pour dry sand on the area you created and level it again by using an empty gas cylinder to roll on it.

Install the pallets and cover them with a wooden board from the inside and add them to the pallets top. Then finally, apply your tarpaulin pool cover.

Remove Sod And Rake The Area:

Why Families Are Buying Above Ground Pools

Pools cant be installed on grass. The grass will rot and affect the pool liner. Plus, grass can shift or settle over time, making it unstable. This means you need to remove the sod from the marked area. Rent a sod remover from your local hardware store or equipment rental shop to make this job easier.Once youve dug up the sod you need to rake the area to remove any remaining grass, roots, rocks or other debris .Check that the area is level again. This is such a critical step its important to check everything is level over and over again throughout the installation process.

June 9, 2020 By Goodall Staff

At Goodall Pools & Spas, we sell and install hard wall above ground pools. As summer begins, and folks are still being advised to stay home, we are getting a lot of questions about whether or not we sell such pools and if so, is it possible for homeowners to install the pool themselves.

Overview of How to Install Your Above Ground Pool

You can install an above ground pool in just a few days. You will need the help of few people and can make it a great weekend project for family members and friends. We often get asked if any special tools are required. The answer is no, you do not need any special tools. Regular household tools are all that is required. Some important considerations include:

Level the surface. One of the most important parts of installation is making sure the surface where you plan to put the pool is level. If your space is level or can be made level with just a little excavating, you can easily put the pool up yourself. Otherwise, you will probably need a professional.

Purchase one of our kits. We sell above ground pool kits for customers to install themselves. The kit includes the pool walls, liner, startup chemicals, vacuum supplies, a ladder, equipment, and most of the basics you need to get started.

Decide On Pool Size And Shape

The size and shape of a pool will determine its cost. Typically a bigger and taller pool will run more expensive than smaller ones, but be sure to do some research to find the right kit for you. Pools are either round or rectangular in shape. Round pools can range from 12 to 30 feet. Rectangular pools can have dimensions of 12-by-24 feet, 15-by-30 feet or 18-by-33 feet. The height of pools can range from 48 inches to 54 inches. Pool kits can range from $720 to $8,240, depending on the size.

NOTE: Youll want to calculate how much it will cost to fill a pool at this time, too. There are several pool capacity calculators online. Pools typically need 15,000 to 30,000 gallons of water. For comparison, the average family of four uses around 10,500 gallons in a 30-day period, according to the EPA. So expect your water bill to double in the month you fill it for the first time. Once filled, it can cost between $40 and $60 per month to keep it filled. You can hire a water truck to fill your pool, but that will typically cost between $600 and $1,200.

Above Ground Pool Maintenance Cost

Part of your ongoing costs of owning an above-ground pool includes proper maintenance. Pool maintenance costs$5 to $15 per month to do it yourself, or $80 to $150 monthly to hire a professional service. For a one-time cleaning, expect to spend $150 or more depending on the size and type of pool you have.

The total cost to maintain your pool yourself can be under $100 per year, whereas a pool maintenance service will charge $60$90 per hour. The average total annual cost for chemicals alone for an above-ground pool is $60 to $180. Bear in mind your initial cost to buy tools will impact the average price your first year.

Take Those Lines Downand Dry Them Out

Whether or not youre dealing with freezing temperatures, taking down and storing your pool lines will make setting them up again in the spring a lot cleaner. Less gunky, lets say. The best part? All you have to do is disconnect the lines, allow all the water still lodged in them to run out, then let them air dry outsidewe dont want any festering-for-months mold to appear on pool opening day. Once theyre completely dry, youre ready to store your pipes. Oh, and word from the wise: do notI repeat, do notdo this while your circulation system is on, or even connected to power.

If you have hard PVC pipes that cannot be easily removed, youll need to winterize your plumbing by blowing out your linesthis will prevent any water still in your pipes from freezing and cracking your lines. For above-ground pools, winterizing usually involves using a Shop Vac to blow air into your skimmer and through your plumbing. You can also suck water from your skimmer. Just keep in mind that for this to work youll have already drained your water just below the skimmer.

If you do leave up your lines, youll want to add pool-grade antifreeze directly into that empty skimmer. Most manufacturers recommend one gallon of antifreeze for every 10 feet of 1.5 inch pipe. Just make sure you get the antifreeze thats made for pools and not, you know, cars. That stuff is toxic.

Its Time To Put Up The Wall

In the first set of videos, they place the pool wall on a piece of cardboard, and they roll it out like they are spreading hot butter on toast. In the second set of videos they upgrade to a piece of plywood in the center of the pools and roll it out easy as you please.

In all fairness you will notice like five guys helping roll out the wall in one of the videos.

Here is my method. My plywood is cut two feet by two feet, and I bolt a rope to one end to make it like a sled. I lay out 4 or 5 pieces of PVC piping and place the sled on that, laying out another 4 or 5 pieces of PVC ahead of the sled. Then I put the sit and spin on the plywood, and the pool wall on the sit and spin.

We pull the sled a long the PVC tracks spinning the wall as we go.

We start the wall by lining up the wall bolt holes with the center of the connector plate. The one we didnt put the upright onto yet. By lining up the bolt holes behind the upright, we can hide all the hardware.

Most skimmer holes are within 5 feet of the edge of the wall. With the wall standing up, look to see which way you will have to spin the wall, and make sure the skimmer opening is on top. You need to know this to determine which upright to leave off. Only you know where the equipment is going, and thats where you start the wall.

If you left the wrong upright off, just swap it out Simple!

Nuts go on the outside of the pool. Use a lot of duct tape to cover the heads of the screws. I usually use 3-10 layers.

The next step to take is to install the Concord steel pool. This is made of steel and it’s and it’s quite hard to set it up alone, you will need some extra hands to complete this process. This task will take a pretty long time, but it’s a very durable and long-lasting pool that you can use for years to come.

As you unwrap the steel pool, you will install some vertical braces to give it a firm balance on the ground. After the steel pool installation, you will proceed to level the insides of the pool and then spread your pool tarpaulin cover and seal it all around. The steps are easy to follow, and it’s a great above-the-found pool for any occasion. You will need a shovel for the leveling and the pool pump and filter for the water.

    Bring In Sand For Base

Our bases are built of sand. You will need to wheelborrow in the sand inside the pool. If you are going to a quarry, the best we have seen is screened sand, slight mix of clay. This allows the sand to compact firm. Do not use the popular mortar sand, which is often used for bricklaying.

Note: You can start bringing in the sand before the previous step. Just make sure that you lay down a piece of plywood or cardboard to protect your border. When you are done bringing in sand, make sure to re-level and inspect the area to walked over the stone dust to ensure it’s leveled.

We usually bring in 4 inches of sand inside for the base. You will find yourself roughly spreading it inside the swimming pool. But do not bring it against the stone dusk circle yet. You will need to have the wall installed before you do that. So simply add extra sand near the edges inside so that you will be able to level it later.

During pool installations with our crew, we usually have a few steps happening at the same time.

Tips To Install The Pool Liner:

    • Be careful not to tear the liner during installation.
    • You must install the liner on a warm, sunny day and check to ensure the evening temperature doesnt dip too low.
    • Lay the liner in the sun for a few hours before you start so it is easier to lay out. Liners are usually slightly smaller than the pools support structure and it will stretch more easily when it is warm out. You should not install a liner on a cold day or fill the pool with very cold water once the liner has just been installed.
    • Wet the sand and then rake it before putting the liner in the pool. This will ensure a level base
    • Do not step on the liner with your shoes on. Install it either barefoot or in socks.
    • Make sure you dont track any rocks into the pool with you while you are walking on the liner towork the wrinkles out.
    • Work all the wrinkles to the outside of the pool.
    • Once the stabilizer rails are installed you can take down the landscaping stakes.
    • This is the last chance you have to ensure the bottom of your pool is level and free of debris
    • Do not trim off the excess liner. If the liner ever needs to be removed, trimming the liner willmake re-installation very difficult. Instead, roll up any excess liner and tape it in place near the top of the pool wall.

Installing Your Own Pool: The Budget

Yep, installing your own above-ground pool costs more than the sticker price once you add in the expense of preparing a home for it. The happy people pictured on the box assembling it with ease are models, too. Depending on which kind you buy, your experience will probably take longer and involve more frustration.

Even so, once you make peace with these facts of life, its really worth it.

Even at double the price you see on the box, a decently sized above-ground pool works out much cheaper than a permanent installation, never mind frequent trips to the local water park for your kids and their friends. It basically starts to pay for itself as soon as its standing.
