Now that Ive purged my rant, overall, my vote is for Wilbar pools.

I have installed more Wilbar pools than any other maker. Thats mainly because they have the biggest part of the above-ground pool market. If I were to get an above ground pool, it would be a Wilbar pool for sure.

Semi Buried Or Fully Buried Above Ground Pool

These pools are similar to the traditional above ground pools discussed above, however, they willhave fully insulated wall panels that are significantly stronger to combat the ground forces pushingin on the walls. These pools will come in a variety of sizes, even the more free form look.

Pros: More of the inground look and feel with a relatively quick install about 3-5 days depending on size and site location, long term solution, warranty.

Cons: Cannot be easily re-located if you move, price point for this option is fairly high due to installation, not conducive to a DIY install.

Testing Your Sand Bottom

The weight of the water in the pool will help to compact the sand bottom underneath the liner. Generally it takes 5-10 days for the sand to be fully compacted and become hardened.

The first time you get in the pool to swim, gently feel the bottom of the pool to ensure the sand is sufficiently compacted. If the bottom is still soft, give it a few more days before walking around on the bottom.

***Country Leisure Pro Tip: Leaving footprints in the bottom of the pool will make it extremely difficult to vacuum your pool dont rush this step!

Maintenance between the pool types is a wash. Both require extensive work to keep them in shape. Gallon for gallon, though, they come out about evenly. You still have to clean them and test the water regularly. You may have to close them for winter, depending on where you live. Of course, a larger pool will mean more work than a smaller one. But sometimes a larger pool can be less sensitive to chemical changes since everything is more diluted.
