The one on the right is my preferred type. The tablets stack up inside the tube, and you partially unscrew the bottom to expose the lowest tablet. The water cannot reach the tablets above. This design gives you fine-grained control over exactly how much tablet is exposed to the water at once, so not all the tablets will start to dissolve right away.
Is It Possible To Change From Chlorine To Bromine
The sanitizer in a hot tub can be switched from chlorine to bromine. it is easier making the change from chlorine to bromine instead of the other way around. Whenever you add chlorine, stop and replace it with brominating tablets.
A bromide bank will gradually be built up as the tablets dissolve. This residue bromide will be converted into bromine when the spa is next shocked.
Safety: Chlorine And Bromine
DO NOT MIX chlorine and bromine in either a dry state or within the water, as this can cause a dangerous reaction.

Bromine Tablets Vs Granules For Spa
Bromine comes from the same chemical linage as chlorine, and is highly effective when fighting germs and bacteria.
Bromine relatively easily dissolves in water and comes in two shapes, as tablets or as granules. If you want to use tablets, you will need to place them in a chemical dispenser or bromine feeder whereas granular chlorine dissolves immediately in the water.
If you are going to pick bromine tablets, make sure not to mix bromine and chlorine tablets and dont use the same dispenser.
The optimum bromine level should be between 3 and 5 p.p.m.

Both chemicals should not be mixed directly. With bromine tablets, you should get a new floating dispenser if you used one with chlorine. By doing this, you can ensure that chlorine isnt left behind. This doesnt work the other way around.
In spas that already have bromine, adding shock will reactivate this bromine. However, the spa will still be bromine. Without a complete drain, clean, and refill, its not possible to remove all bromine from the water. Cleaner such as Ahh-Some can be used to flush the plumbing lines.

Can You Use Crushed Bromine Tablets In A Hot Tub
You can use crushed bromine tablets, either to establish an initial bromide bank or reserve in your hot tub, or to top up your spa’s bromide reserve in place of tablets.
Whenever I’ve bought a bottle of bromine tablets, there’s always been powder in the bottom, where the some of the tablets have been broken or crushed. It seemed a shame to waste, so I experimented with using it in my spa.
What were the results?
I found that it works well in both cases, but a little goes a long wayespecially for regular top-ups.
Start by adding a teaspoon of crushed brominating tablet powder to the water. Check the sanitizer levels next time you shock your spa, to make sure it’s still within the 2-6 ppm range.
The powder dissolves much more quickly than it would in tablet form, so it’s easy to end up with higher levels of sanitizer than you want.
