How Do You Get Around On Great Stirrup Cay
Unlike some other cruise line private islands, there isnt a regular shuttle or tram to transport guests around Great Stirrup Cay. One exception is transportation to Silver Cove, since its a bit of a hike from where youll exit your tender.
If you have a shore excursion that departs from the dock on the south side of the island, shuttles will take you to and from that location.
Thankfully, most of the action on the island is centrally located by the main beach at Bertrams Cove. Most bars and restaurants are in this area, and restrooms are just a quick walk from the beach.

Is Great Stirrup Cay A Tender Port
Yes. Great Stirrup Cay doesnt yet have a pier for ships to dock at, so your ship will anchor offshore. Smaller boats, known as tenders, ferry passengers to and from the island.
Youll need to pick up a complimentary ticket with a specific time to board the tender, or you can wait until Open Tender is called. Be warned that on NCL ships, Open Tender generally doesnt start until the afternoon. By that time, many of the restaurants and bars on the island will be closed.
Tip: Check your Freestyle Daily the day before you arrive at Great Stirrup Cay. It will list times and the location where you can pick up tender tickets. Tickets with early tender times go fast, so be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible.

A YEAR AGO… I have been promised installation for a year… Once it appears it’s finally going to happen…. the installer who I told the store manager NOT TO SEND TO MY HOUSE Because by his own account he was shady, showed up. They marked where the pool was to go and dumped the materials in my yard. Made me pay up front and left my house without installing. I received a call from THE OWNER of Bureau County Pools that evening telling me he wasn’t going to make enough money installing my pool and hoped I found someone else to do the job. I called Great Escape corporate only to be told I couldn’t talk to anyone and had to email this generic email. So I did. I received an email from the VP asking if they could have someone else install it. I asked for a phone call to discuss. He agreed, and never called. So here I am, 2 seasons later, with a pool and installation paid for…. And no pool in my backyard. From what I’m reading…. This isn’t uncommon with great escape. So there’s that. Oh…. Did I mention the installer still has my money?? I cause he does….. So there’s that….
