Are You Licensed And Insured

When hiring swimming pool contractors, always hire a licensed, insured and bonded professional. A licensed professional will have the proper experience to do the job well. Ask the contractor for their license number, and look it up on your state website.

Insurance protects homeowners if anyone gets injured or property gets damaged during the project. Make sure the local pool contractor carries both general liability and workers compensation insurance. Ask the contractor for an insurance certificate for both policies. The certificate should come from the insurance company directly, not the contractor.

Questions To Ask When Designing A Pool

  • Will you be diving, exercising, chilling, or entertaining? Choose a pool design, size, and depth based on its use.
  • Which is more important to youinground, indoors, or whatever is cheapest? There is an option for every budget.
  • How much do you want to spend on grading and re-sloping the backyard? If your yard is relatively flat already, this shouldnt be an issue.
  • What type of pool material do you want? What you choose will dictate your yearly pool maintenance costs and longevity of the pool.
  • How much are you willing to spend on yearly maintenance? A fiberglass pool has the lowest costs, and if you have a fiberglass saltwater pool, the cost is even lower.
  • How many add-ons do you want? The sky is the limit on add-ons, but whats in your budget?
  • How much landscaping do you want around the pool? Choose from popular themes like tropical.
  • Do you want a pool fence and deck? These can add thousands to the cost, but they provide privacy and safety.
  • How Much Does Inground Pool Resurfacing Cost

A concrete pool should last 10 to 15 years before it needs to be resurfaced, at which point you will be spending in the region of $10,000 to $13,000 depending on size and the type of finish on the pool, and potentially as much as a total of $20,000 if replacing the tile at the waterline at the same time.

Buying any swimming pool is a major investment, so it makes sense to do your research to find out exactly how much your new inground pool will cost. But just as important is who is going to install your pool, who is going to design and develop your backyard oasis and how you are going to care for it. Making all of these decisions correctly will ensure that you will have a pool that it lasts a lifetime and fits within your budget.

    Picking The Proper Site

How Much Does An Inground Pool Cost To Install

Picking the best place for your pool is as important as the pool itself. An experienced pool contractor can provide valuable insight, but be sure to consider the following pool-placement tips:

    • Capture the Sun: Take advantage of free solar energy by choosing a pool location that’s open to the sun and well away from any trees. Such a location will not only warm up the water, it’ll also reduce the number of leaves that drop into the pool.
    • Block Breezes: Building a pool in a windy location greatly increases water evaporation, which means you’ll have keep adding water to maintain the proper level. Strong winds can also make you feel uncomfortably cool when wet. Create a windbreak by erecting a solid-board fence, or by planting a row of thick shrubs.
    • High and Dry: Dont set the pool in a low-lying area, which could result in the pool flooding with mud and debris during periods of heavy rain.
    • All Clear Above and Below: The pool shouldn’t be located beneath overhead telephone or electrical wires, or directly over buried sewer lines, septic systems or electrical cables.
    • Keep Eye Contact: Whenever possible, build the pool within view of the house. That way, you can keep an eye on swimmers even while you’re indoors.

Option : Installing Fiberglass Swimming Pool

It is pretty easy given that after excavation, the efforts needed dont seem to be much.

So lets quickly go through the installation process

    • Set the Base Where to Install Fiberglass Pool

After youre done with excavating the land, you need to level it .

Basically, you need to set the floor.

One ideal way of doing this is by laying a bed of sand on the floor to provide the pool with a flat base.

It is recommendable that you set up the screed bars to act as guides for the slope.

This helps in making screeding a relatively straightforward process.

The other suitable way is by setting up the base using a 2 thick layer of gravel. Remember the gravel layer also determines the height of the pool.

Therefore, a relatively lesser level layer of gravel is ideal.

    • Use a Crane to Lift & Install the Pool

After leveling the base, now take a crane, attach the fiberglass kit on it and lift it to the base bed.

Then you need to ensure that you check all the levels and make it structurally sound.

The essence here is to prevent it from continuous shifting and to settle over time.

Ensure that you lift and re-set the pool as many times as possible. It does not matter as long as it is level.

You know what, if you rush it in this phase, the pool shell might fail to rest correctly on the foundation leading to shifting.

    Home Equity Loan Pool Financing

A home equity loan is similar to a HELOC in that its another type of second mortgage.

Using a home equity loan, you can tap your homes value and borrow cash for many purposes, including a swimming pool purchase.

But instead of accessing a line of credit on an asneeded basis like a HELOC youre given a onetime lump sum of cash to pay for your pool.

Pros of a home equity loan

Many home equity loans have a fixed interest rate and payment, so your monthly cost remains predictable. This is a big benefit over a HELOC.

A home equity loan might have a lower rate than a home equity line of credit or personal loan, too. And like a HELOC, the interest on a home equity loan might be taxdeductible.

Plus, the approval process can be faster and cheaper than a full cashout refinance.

Cons of a home equity loan

The downside is that home equity loans, though cheaper than a full refinance, come with closing costs. And again, your house acts as collateral for the loan. So you could lose your home if you stop making the payments.

    Advantages Of Fiberglass Pools

    • Fiberglass pools are around 20 percent cheaper than concrete pools and low-maintenance.
    • Fiberglass shells can be designed and created in any shape or size you want.
    • The fiberglass shell comes delivered as a single unit that will be dropped into the space dug out for it.
    • The time from ordering to swimming is much shorter than that of a traditional pool install. In some cases, this could be less than a week, including digging out the ground and the electrical work.
    • Because of the gelcoat finish, not only will it last until your kids have left the house, but it needs almost zero maintenance, looks lovely, and has a really smooth surface. Youll never need to replace a liner or resurface it. Its the best type to stand up to dogs nails too.
    • The smooth surface is super resistant to algae and requires low-maintenance of pH levels. Its also smooth underfoot rather than abrasive.
    • You can use fiberglass pools with salt-purification systems to create a saltwater pool.
    • Maintenance costs are very low$4,000 versus $27,400 for a concrete pool over a 10-year period.

Backfill Of Pool Structure: Day 2 5

We now backfill the entire pool structure with stone and do a rough preparation for the concrete deck/patio or sub-deck to be poured. The first stage of the installation is now complete.

The primary installation crew is done their work and all the excavation equipment is gone. Things are about to start coming together as we start to assemble the pool.

Two very important notes at this point:

  • Our installation crew, the crew that digs, installs the panels and backfills, is able to work in pretty much any weather. It takes a heavy rain downpour to slow them up. The reverse is true of our concrete crew. Weather is very important and even the possibility of rain is enough to cancel a pour. Why this is important? As the season goes on it is not unusual for our concrete crew to fall somewhat behind our installation crew. By July/August it is quite normal for there to be a five to ten day delay between when the installation crew is finishing up and the concrete crew arrives.
  • At this point we are ready to have the fencing started or re-installed. Our concrete crew does not need any access larger than a standard gate. The only exception to this is if a landscaper is coming in to do stonework. In that case we may need to wait on the fencing until after they are finished.
  • How To Decide Where To Put A Pool:

    • Sight lines: Your view of the pool from inside the house and the rest of garden. Adding lighting or water features will make it more attractive. Seeing the pool from the house is essential if you have kids.
    • Sun exposure: Does the location maximise sun exposure to help keep the water warm? Large trees can block the sun and drop leaves into the water.
    • Wind exposure: will cool the water and increase evaporation. Plant or build screens to shelter.
    • Accessibility: How will people enter and exit the pool? Where will you hang out around the pool?
    • Storage: Where will you keep the filtration equipment, pool cleaner, toys and sun umbrellas?

    Concrete Footer & Pvc Plumbing

Time to seal the deal! Set the pool wall braces in 6″ of concrete. 3 – 7 yds will be needed based on the pool size bigger pool means more yards for that extra needed support.

A plumber is usually not needed to complete this step however some local codes may require a deep seal trap be installed by a licensed plumber if the swimming pool equipment is to be connected to the city sewer system.

Schedule 40 PVC pipe is used to connect the pool to the filtration system. The amount of pipe needed will vary depending on the number of return inlets, skimmers, automatic cleaner, and the distance from the pool to the pump. It all adds up.

PVC can be purchased from your local hardware store or from Royal Swimming Pools offers flexible schedule 40 PVC here.
