The Advantages Of An Inground Steel Pool

The underground steel swimming pool has many advantages, closely linked to the nature of its steel structure and the modular panels that make it up.

  • An affordable buried pool. Regarding the prices, the steel underground pool is much more affordable than the traditional concrete masonry pool: you can find models of steel underground pool from 4000. Good news: the inground pool is no longer a luxury!
  • Easy assembly. The modular steel panels can be assembled in a few hours, and the pool can be quickly ready for swimming! Nothing to do with the concrete swimming pool, whose construction is very sensitive to weather and climate.
  • A solid material. Choosing steel for your in-ground pool means choosing an extremely strong and durable material .
  • Easy maintenance. Unlike wood, steel is very easy to maintain material.
  • The aesthetics of steel. Steel is a pure and design material, increasingly sought after by private individuals who want simple and very aesthetic swimming pools: overflow pools, modern design pools
  • A very comfortable swim. Once the pool is installed , the swimming comfort is similar to that of a concrete DIY inground pool.

For a smaller budget, let yourself be tempted by an above-ground steel pool. It will have the same robustness as an underground steel pool, but with less refurbishment work.

Can You Build Your Own Diy Pool

The short answer to this question is yes.

If you wanted to, you could dig a big hole in your backyard and, with a little effort, turn it into a swimming pool. So instead of asking this question, you need to ask yourself a different question instead.

Should you build a DIY pool?

Once you sit down and think about what it will take to build a pool yourself, you may decide going the DIY route will be a lot more trouble than it is worth. And while you might want to DIY your pool to save money, this will likely end up costing you a lot more in the long run .

Because of this, its often not a good idea to DIY your pool. You should stick to the professional pool contractors.

Make Your Diy Inground Pool Yourself: The Skills You Need

If it is more than advisable to call on a pool builder, it is because doing your own swimming pool requires a real know-how and many skills No question of building your own swimming pool if you dont know how to do it or if you dont know much:

First, we will have to define the location of our future swimming pool. Once the location has been chosen and traced in the ground, the serious things begin: place to earthworks , then it is necessary to flatten and stabilize the bottom of excavation so that it can receive the structure of the swimming pool.

And yes, if youre dreaming of a concrete in-ground swimming pool, you need to know the basics: concrete casting, shotcrete technology, or modular reinforced concrete structure? The wooden swimming pool and the inshell swimming pool require less masonry work, but do not leave any room for it either!

Logic: swimming pool means filtration system, installation of a pump, water treatment plant

If we want to illuminate our basin, we also need to have solid electrical skills, since the lights will be constantly immersed

Whether you opt for a liner, tile, plaster or other types of coating, you will also need to have the know-how to accurately and meticulously apply our flooring to ensure complete waterproofing.

Cost Of Building Natural Swimming Pools

I know, we told you we would let you know the cost. The basic calculation is that if you want an in-ground cement natural swimming pool, it will cost you the same as a regular in-ground cement pool with pool decks and landscaping. The difference is, you need to build something twice as large as your swimming zone. The costs run about $100 per square foot. I wont make you do the math this pool would have cost in the $100,000 range to build in the USA. In Mexico, in US dollars, it worked out to about $25,000. And we never have to fill it and never have to add anything to the water. That is so refreshing.

And for $25,000 we got:

  • a cement/concrete lap pool at 400 SF
  • the entire regeneration zone at 600 SF
  • water garden / regeneration zone
  • solar heating system on the casita roof

Questions? Just ask us we are happy to respond to your queries. And as noted, I will keep updating the photos as the natural swimming pool builds its own ecosystem and establishes itself. There should be far fewer plants in the regeneration zone, eventually, and we will add more koi to turn it into a more of a water garden look. And for sure, I am getting one of those koi elevators.

Sealing Your Natural Pool

Once youve dug the hole for the swimming pool and the plant zone, you have a couple of options, depending on your soil conditions, to make sure the pool holds water: You can apply a layer of bentonite clay to seal the soil or lay a synthetic liner. Bentonite is usually the cheaper option, averaging 35 cents per square foot. Liners can cost 25 cents to $1 per square foot, depending on their composition and weight.

If you choose a liner, select one made of ethylene propylene diene monomer rather than PVC. EPDM is a synthetic rubber twice as expensive as PVC, but its worth the extra cost. It has protection from ultraviolet rays, and unlike PVC remains flexible in cold weather. If your soil has a lot of rocks or roots, select a 45- or 60-millimeter liner. You can use a 30-millimeter liner if your soil is very sandy and smooth, and if you and your guests arent likely to tear holes in a liner while frolicking in the pool. Before laying your liner, compact the sod and cover it with a layer of sand or an absorbent material such as old carpeting or newspaper. Newspaper is a good option: When wet, it bonds to the liner, providing extra protection if the liner develops a small hole.

The Overflow Shell Pool

In order to adapt to the growing customer demand, manufacturers of polyester shells or acrylic shells have asked themselves how to make an infinity pool by themselves. They therefore propose, as an option, to add an overflow, either perimeter or on one side.

Once the excavation is done, a shell pool can be installed in a few hours. The pool is delivered to the construction site by a special crane truck. Once the installation is completed, the filtration system is connected and the pool is carefully backfilled.

This option, which is more expensive than the previous one, does not offer a custom-made model. You can see some models on this site

Do You Need Lining Or Painting

Experts recommend that you weld a lining inside the pool to contain the water and add internal strength. A durable vinyl liner could be the perfect solution. However, select an option within your price range as these can always be updated at a later stage.

In addition, painting the interior and exterior of the container can help increase the lifespan of your pool and give it a custom touch.

Selection Of Location And Design

The design of the swimming pool is the first step for pool construction. Choose a design suitable for the given land or choose a land area to accommodate a design already planned. The design of the swimming pool mainly involves the shape, depth, area of the pool, the filtration system, and overall size.

The location selected for the pool must be ideal for facilitating regular maintenance. It is recommended to choose a flat terrain, which can help in large cost reduction for excavation and filling process. A land far away from trees helps to avoid pool filled with leaves. The orientation of the swimming pool is best when constructed facing the sun.

Hot Tubs And Spa Pools

Hot tubs and spa pools are common heated pools used for relaxation and sometimes for therapy. Commercial spas are common in the swimming pool area or sauna area of a health club or fitness center, in men’s clubs, women’s clubs, motels and exclusive five-star hotel suites. Spa clubs may have very large pools, some segmented into increasing temperatures. In Japan, men’s clubs with many spas of different size and temperature are common. Commercial spas are generally made of concrete, with a mosaic tiled interior. More recently with the innovation of the pre-form composite method where mosaic tiles are bonded to the shell this enables commercial spas to be completely factory manufactured to specification and delivered in one piece. Hot tubs are typically made somewhat like a wine barrel with straight sides, from wood such as Californian redwood held in place by metal hoops. Immersion of the head is not recommended in spas or hot tubs due to a potential risk of underwater entrapment from the pump suction forces. However, commercial installations in many countries must comply with various safety standards which reduce this risk considerably.
