Costs Of Custom Pools Around The Us

How Much Does a New Pool Cost in 2018

In contrast with an above-ground pool where prices on the prefabricated unit are set, the project construction costs on inground pools vary a great dealparticularly on a concrete design.

Its important to understand how each contract amount is influenced by factors such as the pool equipment, design features, material choices, the build site, and the region of the U.S.

In fact, you could have a difference of thousands of dollars on the exact same pool in different parts of the country.

For example, the identical basic 15 x 30-foot pool and its features may have starting base price of $30,000 in Phoenixand $65,000 in Raleigh.

Now, say this same pool is being built in a backyard with challenging conditions, such as a major slope. The extra labor needed could drive up the Raleigh price tag $2,500 to $10,000or even more in certain cases.

Add a heated gunite spa, app-enabled remote-control automation, and that might be another $17,000 in Raleigh, but thousands less in other markets.

Elevate that same spa 18 inches above the pool and add decorative stacked-stone facing to it, and the spa cost could increase more than $4,000 to $5,000. Make the spa a stunning rimflow design, and this sleek configuration requires another $1,500.

Semi Inground Pool Cost

A semi-inground pool costs under $10,000 on average. Oasis semi-inground pools are constructed from extruded aluminum or steel and cost between $6,800 and $8,500. Semi inground pools are more expensive than an above-ground pool but about a third of the price of an inground pool of equal size. The installation is much faster than that for an inground pool and can often be constructed in 1 to 3 days.

Concrete / Gunite / Shotcrete

Concrete pools, also known as gunite or shotcrete, are the most expensive pool type, costing most homeowners between $31,000 to $71,666 to install. You can shape your concrete pool into a customized design, and concrete pools last nearly a lifetime.

Keep in mind that concrete pools are high maintenance. Algae has no problem growing on concrete. To keep your concrete pool less green and more clean, youll need to perform an acid wash every 3 to 5 years, usually costing between $290 and $400.

Concrete is susceptible to cracking and needs to be replastered every 10 to 15 years. Acid washes also increase the need for replastering the pool. Replastering a concrete pool typically starts around $2,500 and can cost as much as $13,000.

Pros:

It can last for more than 50 years. Shape and size are customizable. Durable

It is usually the most expensive pool type to install High maintenance Requires high amounts of electricity and chemicals to stay clean and swimmable Susceptible to mold and algae It has an abrasive surface that can make feet bleed. Childrens soft feet are especially vulnerable to the harsh surface. Not compatible with saltwater systems. It can take months to install

How Deep Can A Vinyl Pool Be

Vinyl pools can be any depth. A common depth for pools in the deep end is about 12 feet, which is deep enough for diving. However, if your pool is large enough, you can go deeper. It is very common for pools to have a wide range of depths so that people of all ages and abilities can use the pool. Vinyl pools are completely customizable in size and shape. Therefore, you can create a pool that has a deep end and make that deep end your choice of depth. This is in contrast to fiberglass pools, which cannot exceed about 5 feet in depth.

If you choose to build a gunite pool in your backyard, its going to be there for a long time, especially if you choose SSG. Our pools are backed by a transferable lifetime warranty. Nonetheless, this is a big investment. Its human nature to weigh the worth of each feature against its price, but dont forget to also consider what will make you happy. Its a lot better to spend an extra 10-20% overall and be ecstatic every time that you look in your backyard rather than save a small percentage and always wish that you had an additional feature.

Searching for pool builders is like looking for a Dunkin Donuts in New England, theyre everywhere. Unlike our regions favorite coffee shop, pool builders do not offer the same level of consistently. There are large degrees of separation between good builders and bad builders. So, what should you look for when searching for a company to build your new pool?

At the very least, we recommend that you search for pool builders who have been in the industry for more than 10 years, offers an extensive warranty program and have decent reviews. If a builder does not have these three basic characteristics, it should be a red flag warning. The most important thing to do is to find a reputable company that is licensed, insured and competent in creating a quality swimming pool, so you can be proud of your investment.

Prices For Fiberglass Inground Pools

The cost of building a fiberglass inground pool ranges from $18,700 for a 10 by 16 pool shell alone to $63,180 for an 18 by 30 fiberglass pool installed without a deck. Maintenance and upkeep charges will be roughly $3,750 over a 10-year period, and the pool will survive for at least 25 years.

  • Unlike vinyl or concrete, it is much easier to clean and maintain.
  • The smooth surface is highly resistant to algae and requires less pH adjustment.
  • Fiberglass pools have pre-fabricated shells and are typically smaller than concrete pools. Installation can be completed in as little as a week.

The large cost discrepancies are due to how much of the work you pay for versus how much you do yourself. Turn-key package deals can often save you more money than project managing all of the different aspects of the installation. A turn-key installation from an authorized dealer is preferred by the great majority of pool owners.

Do Inflatable Pools Need Chlorine

Although inflatable pools dont need to use chlorine, its one of the most common ways to keep pool water sanitary and safe to swim in. The chlorine is used to efficiently kill bacteria in the water that may be harmful to swimmers. Larger inflatable pools will benefit the most from the use of chlorine.

What Is A Semi Inground Pool

Pool Party Part II

A semi inground pool is exactly what it sounds like: a swimming pool that is partially installed in the ground and partially installed above ground. Usually, most of the pool is still inground, but part of the pool will be raised a few feet or more.

Whether you install a fiberglass, concrete, or vinyl liner pool, the installation and cost will differ depending on the pool type and the materials that you use to build around it.

Some people like to use the raised sides of a semi inground pool for bar space, water features , and multiple pool entry points.

Keep in mind that you can install an above ground pool semi inground, but its not the same as building an inground pool semi inground.

Whats the difference?

The vast majority of above ground pools that you can buy in a kit and assemble in your yard are temporary. While you can partially or entirely lower them into the ground, theyre not what we know of as inground pools, which are more permanent structures.

Maintenance Costs After Building

Well, these costs come after building. But you must be sure of it too. You should have known that a pool needs maintenances. Its not like you make it constructed and use it spontaneously. You have to maintain it from time to time. If you are good enough to take care of it and keep it clean and tidy always then okay, but if you dont have time for this, then you must bear the expenses for hiring a person. If you are thinking about how much does a 12×24 inground pool cost, then you should know the maintenance costings too. And it can cost you around $450 to $800 or more depending on the use of the pool and the climate.

Pros And Cons Of Vinyl Pools

How Much Does A Pool Cost? | California Pools & Landscape

Like all pools, vinyl-lined pools have pros and cons. They are affordable and much faster to build than or concrete. They can also be endlessly customized both in size and shape. They have a very smooth surface that is pleasant to walk on.

However, they are not as durable as concrete or fiberglass and require frequent liner replacements. Most vinyl pools have metal walls that are incompatible with saltwater systems. They also cannot be used in areas with high water tables and are generally less visually appealing than other pool types. While some in-ground pools may be attractive to buyers for resale, vinyl pools typically are not.

Small Inground Pool Cost

River Pools and Spas considers pools that are under 26 feet long and up to 12 or 13 feet wide to be small pools. Some examples are plunge and spool pools that cost between $10,000 and $15,000 or more each. Smaller pools are typically used for lounging or quickly cooling off, not for strenuous swimming or play.

Additional Considerations And Costs

  • A contractor assists with gathering all the necessary permits for the project. Permit rules vary by state, city, and county. Most permits range from $200 to $300. An electrical permit often costs $25 to $50.
  • The installation of a vinyl-lined pool can be a DIY project, but check with the pools manufacturer to make sure that installing it as a DIY does not void the warranty.
  • You can purchase vinyl-lined pool kits for installation. The vinyl pool kit averages $25,000 to $40,000.
  • Most manufacturers offer a 3-year guarantee on the vinyl.
  • During the summer months, it tends to be more expensive to install a pool because more people use a pool during the late spring and summer seasons. Sometimes, you can save money by installing during the offseason, such as the fall, winter, and early spring months.
  • A vinyl liner is made of durable material. The thickness of the vinyl is measured in mils. A mil is 1/1,000th of an inch thick. Vinyl pool liners come in variations of 20, 25, 27, 28, and 30 mils. The vinyl can be embossed with a pattern or simple non-embossed color. They are available in a wide array of colors. Prices range from $1,000 to $2,000, depending on the thickness and if the surface is embossed with a pattern.

Fiberglass Pools: Initial Cost

At River Pools, we offer four distinct types of fiberglass pool packages. They are self-installation, assisted installation, basic installation, and turn-key installation. Let’s take a look at each to learn more.

Fiberglass Pool Self-Installations

A self-installation package would include the pool shell and delivery of the pool to the home, then the client takes it from there.

The obvious advantage of installing your own fiberglass pool is the cost savings. On average most people will save between $6,000 and $10,000 depending on the scope of the project and who does the majority of the work.

The price of the pool shell is determined by two things: the size of the pool and the cost to deliver the pool to your home. If you are considering a self installation, be sure to ask if the price you are quoted includes delivery. If it does not, be sure to get a delivery quote in writing.

Regarding the shell price, fiberglass pools are basically classified into three size groups: small, medium, and large. Small being roughly 27′ long and under, medium being 28′-34′, and large being 35′ and up. In most cases you can expect a small fiberglass pool shell without delivery to cost $9k-$13k, medium $12k-$16k, and large $16k-$24k. Delivery fees could be anywhere from $600 to $2,500.
