Inground Vs Above Ground Pool

Bestway Fast Set Above Ground Swimming Pool Set Up Video

Inground or built-in pools are more expensive to install but do last longer than above-ground pools. Bear in mind, inground pools might negatively affect the resale of your home, and not everyone is okay with the required maintenance and expense of owning a pool. Above-ground pools are easier to remove.

  • Sizes Above-ground pools can be as large as an inground pool. Most above-ground pools have a uniform depth rather than having a deep end and shallow end in the pool.
  • Maintenance Inground and above-ground pools require about the same maintenance. It is more difficult to clean an above-ground pool if it does not have a deck.
  • Longevity The average above-ground pool will last 7 to 15 years and above-ground pool liners last about six years. The durability of an inground pool depends upon the type of pool. Inground pools last at least 10 years, and some will last over 20 years.

Start Your Pump And Filter

Fire it up! Make sure the system starts, and check for any leaks or drips. Dont forget to make sure the ground wires are properly connected to the pump.

If you find your system is running dry, you may need to prime the pool pump. You can do this by shutting off your filter system, removing the pump lid, and adding water from your garden hose or a bucket of pool water.

This will give the pump the boost it needs to start pulling water. Put the pump lid back on, tighten it up, and restart the system.

Whether your filter uses sand or the tiny fossilized organisms known as diatomaceous earth , backwash it after you start your filter system up. The differences in technique between how to backwash a sand filter and how to backwash a DE filter are small but important. The biggest difference is adding DE after you backwash filters that use it.

Always follow your manufacturers instructions when backwashing any filter.

Why You Need To Know How To Open An Above Ground Pool

How to Set Up an Above Ground Swimming Pool

Your pools been covered all winter. As convenient as it would be to just pull the cover off and dive right in, think for a minutethat waters been sitting there, stagnant, all winter long. Do you really want to submerge yourself in that? Didnt think so.

Knowing the above ground pool opening process will ensure that when you do finally get back into the pool, its in clean, clear, non-swampy water.

Ways Of Leveling Your Pools Base

Its not something you think about on a regular basis , but each cubic yard of dirt weighs about 2,300 pounds. That same cubic yard, spread out over the area occupied by a 15-foot round pool, is less than half an inch deep yikes! Thats a lot of shoveling.

If your backyard is far from level, your best bet may be to hire some equipment, like a Bobcat with a dozer blade, or even pay professionals to do the necessary earthmoving. This adds to your total cost, so may make it worth looking at either a larger or a more durable pool than what you first had in mind.

Should you choose to do the job yourself, you first have to decide between The Hard Way and The Easy Way.

The Hard Way starts by using a sod cutter or rototiller to hack out a chunk of your lawn. After that, youll use a shovel and rake to smooth and level what remains, removing all rocks and roots as you go, finally tamping down the soil with a lawn roller.

The Easy Way produces nearly as good a result, with much less sweat and no risk of damaging a buried cable or sewer line. It does require a patch of ground thats at least eyeball level, though, so you may still have to do some digging.

Sand takes much less effort to rake flat. Its recommended that you tape a spirit level to a straight board. As you drag it around the site of your future pool, any hollows and dips will be easy to spot and deal with.

Once your ground is level, you can lay down bottom plates, a base protector, and a tarp, and youre good to go.

Clean Up Debris And Check For Wear And Tear

Before you open your pool, take some time to survey the area around your pool. Trim overgrown trees and hedges. Sweep away nearby leaves. Check your for damage, wear, and tear and address any issues before you open your pool for the season. Be sure to clean and repair any deck furniture so that it is safe for use. You should also check pool equipment like safety rails, slides, rescue equipment, ladders, and diving boards.

Installing An Above Ground Pool On Sand In 5 Steps

  • The best solution is to dig down about ten centimetres and cover the surface with a ground cloth, which is used to protect the pool.
  • After clearing the ground of excess soil, rocks, roots and any other debris that could damage the base of the pool over time, you can fill the hole you have made with sand. Get yourself an aluminium rule, a spirit level, a rake and a tamper or a lawn roller.
  • If you choose a sand with a large grain size, it will tamp down more easily. A good option is to mix the sand with a bit of cement: this mixture will increase the strength of the base. Take the time to even and level out the base surface.
  • Add in a touch of water at the tamping or rolling stage.
  • Then place down a geotextile sheet to prevent weed growth. You can then roll out the ground cloth which should match the dimensions of the pool. Once this is done, you can start assembling or blowing up your pool.

Dont Wait With The First Setup

To tell the truth, there are actually multiple reasons to give yourself plenty of time for the task of installing an above-ground pool. For one thing, its an excellent idea to set it up early in the season to give the sun time to heat it up before summer starts in earnest this also gives you time to get used to maintaining the right water chemistry.

On another level, even the best above-ground pools sometimes leak from day one. If you need to return yours, you dont want the warranty period to slip past with it still in its box.

How big a factor this is depends on which kind of pool you buy. The pool liners of the Intex Metal Frame and Bestway Power Steel are typically covered for only 90 days. That of the more expensive Intex Prism series, by contrast, can be sent back at any time during the 12 months following purchase, assuming that the cause of the leak is a manufacturing defect.

For example, Fitmax has exercise pools you can even install in your garage for $1,150 to $1,900.
